Just got my Power Wagon 6.4 w/4.10 and I am only getting 10.7 mpg but only 250 miles. hope it gets a little better. I only got 12.6 on my 6.7 CTD.
Tankfarmer, if you don't mind, what kind of lift are you running? Also what size wheels and backspacing? Thx.I have a 2015 Power Wagon 6.4/4.10s and I average about 12.5. I can get 15.5 on the interstate and around 11 in the city if I drive it easy. Also I have 37x12.50s on it so you should see a little better.
So after reading a lot of this, I cant seem to find an exact answer...
New 2015 PW owner with 2500 miles on it now.
I know oil is synthetic and 0w40 but can I use any synthetic, Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline, Mobil1, RP, Amsoil, etc...
or is the consensus still just Pennzoil Ultra only?
Are the non Pennzoil brands all now certified or getting soon the Chrysler MS 12633 certification?
Do I really truly need a Chrysler MS 12633 approved synthetic or as long as its a synthetic and 0w40 I should be good to go?

The main thing with MS-12633 0W-40 oil is that is has 2-3 times more molybdenum than the other oils.
As to "truly need", using the proper spec oil under warranty make it one less point for the dealership to attempt to deny a warranty claim if you and an internal engine issue related to lubricated parts.
I don't think anyone on here has had an engine replaced that wasn't the wrist pin issue so it is unknown if it will happen. My theory is why chance it, people on here run 89 or higher octane just because they feel it is "better" for their truck even if the owners manual says it isn't required yet refuse to run the required oil for the engine just because? It isn't like they are requiring you to run a crappy oil, penzoil platinum is one of the best oils out there. I get the point of hating being told what you can and cannot run for oil but it isn't hard to order the correct oil off of Amazon and change it.With this being said have people been denied warranty claims due to oil used? Are the dealers asking to see receipts for oil purchased or shop receipts with oil used?

My dealer used Mobil 1.

Does Pennzoil own the rights to the MS 12633 spec only? Why arent other brands making this spec'ed oil as well so we have options? Or is there one or two others making it now? Anybody know of ones besides Pennzoil Ultra?
