Thermostat

Been noticing lately that my 2013 1500 3.6 is running a little hot. Regularly see temps in the 220's. Ordered a thermostat from local auto shop, but compared it to the one that came stock and noticed they were completely different. A little more research revealed the OEM part is around $220... Ordered part was $30. Anyone have any experience with this OEM? Just wondering if they are compatible or not.

Not sure except there may be an updated part that uses the side if the housing for a sensor plug.

Do you actually need the housing and not just the thermostat itself ?

The thermostat is permanently installed into the housing, so there's no way to change one without the other. After speaking to my local Ram parts shop, I went with the new model and it's working fine. Actually a bit cooler than the stock OEM.

$150 for a thermostat is ridiculous. Guess that's why they call it the stealership. Anyone heard of a good quality non-OEM thermostat for the 3.6L? The Motorad with the flimsy spring seems to be what all the autoparts suppliers are carrying (under many brand names).
