I have very little (actually zero) faith in any social media/youtube based information any more. It's all about shocking headlines to get clicks, doesn't matter if it is actually factual or not. Take it with a grain of salt.....

.
Plus it's getting harder and harder to decipher AI from an actual person anymore. It really sucks.

I've been a tester for audio books that are translated and narrated by AI. The translation is excellent. Grammar is correct, word choice makes sense, slang/idioms are translated in a way that makes sense, etc. The narration style sucks and is obviously AI, it can't figure out proper inflection and emphasis yet. Give it 5-10 years for the tech to mature more and computing power to grow and I bet it'll be nearly impossible on the audio front at least.

What does that have to do with the Hemi ?

Or the price of tea in China ?

Smoke and Mirrors, read that as 100% BS, but just my opinion.

Hi all, I'm new here, just picked up a 21 classic lock with the 5.7L hemi, Idk of anyone's done this, but can't we just modify it to run an oil injection system up top? If anyone in here has owned a rotary, the rx8 had oil injectors to solve their apex seal issues, maybe we can scavenge that off a dead rx8 motor and run it on top of the cams?

LINK PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :893karatesmiley-thu
Here is a link to a search for the "exhaust manifold kit" that my local Dodge dealer installed when I brought my truck in for service at 100,000 miles.

This is a fairly expensive repair/upgrade... but it did solve the "Hemi tick" problem on my 2016 RAM truck. Which sounded exactly like lifter noise at start-up but was actually an exhaust leak. There were broken exhaust manifold bolts on both sides which had to be extracted. The mechanic at the Dodge dealer had installed the new heavy-duty manifold kit in many RAM trucks and his experience did seem to be important. Particularly the bolt extractions from the aluminum cylinder heads. Definitely more involved than I would have tackled myself.

The replacement manifolds are made from high-silicon ductile iron to resist the warping which causes the "Hemi tick" problem... and the kit comes with longer, heavy-duty bolts.

This does appear to be a third-party product/solution. Regardless, the annoying (and embarrassing) "Hemi-tick" noise is gone when the truck starts... and the engine is noticeably quieter on the road.

All this time it was just an exhaust leak!

The hemi isn't an overhead cam engine,it utilizes 1 cam that's buried about 1/2 way in the block,so utliizing something designed to lubricate an overhead cam probably isn't feasable.
The hemi's cam lobes are lubed by the oil flung off the crankshaft, you're best option right now is to up the idle rpm,so the cam lobes receive more oil at idle, and don't baby the engine. The hemi's not an engine that likes to be drove easy by your Grandmother,it's happier being drove a bit on the aggressive side,as there's more oil flung onto the cam.It also should be run on a good quality 5W-30 instead of the 5W-20,and don't stretch out the oil changes, try to change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles.
Read the note at the bottom, this used to be in the bigger 700 page printed manuals until the gubbermint nannies forced them to remove it,as apparently the hemi won't meet the claimed milege numbers on 5W-30

That's because it's all AI generated nonsense to get people to click on it so they can make some ad revenue sharing from YouTube. Given the lack of human narration, probably out of India or the like. In short, a scam to get paid in the attention economy.

Supposedly coffee is, too. Since coffee is a major food group for me, I should be good.

thanks for all that info!! I definitely don't granny drive any of my cars lol This is my first truck ( not to worry though i drove pick ups for work , and used to have a commercial license for a cement mixer/ tri-axle dump truck so i know how to drive lol)

I am also an ex-mechanic, and have always changed my oil every 5000kms ( 3,125 miles) and I will definitely be changing the oil regularly.
I have found Castrol Synthetic has never let me down, including the abuse I've given multiple cars running decent amount of power , and coming from Volkswagen, Chrysler, BMW, and etc. ( as i worked for these dealers in the past) I wouldn't use anything under 30 weight as I firmly believe it is a scam.
These companies don't give a **** about how long our motors last, as long as it looks good on paper for fuel mileage.

I never worked on a hemi engine before, but I have 16+ years experience working on all types of cars including rotary engines, so first time for everything.
And you learn something new everyday. :happy107:
Thanks for all the info, i'm definitely going to read that note.

I've got some Iodine spray around here somewhere and maybe even an old bottle of mercurochrome. U know, U go in from playing, got a scrape: Mom wash it soap/water and/or peroxide, hit it with either mercurochrome or spray Iodine and out the door U go.

This thread is kind of interesting - I drove a Magnum R/T with 5.7L Hemi pretty hard for most of 20 years. I had various other problems with the car, though I would rate it high on the list of cars I have owned (Ex for Snow). I never had a problem with the engine. I was meticulous on service, and had a complete refurb done in '21. Sold it after I bought a truck with the same engine. The engine, based on my past experience, was one of the decision points for the truck. I was not hauling loads, and the Magnum could not be set up to tow a trailer. Wonder what the differences are.

Don’t take Statins!
According to Who..??

From NIH:
We assessed the risk of dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and vascular dementia (VaD), with subgroup analyses by gender, statin type, and diabetes status. Fifty‐five observational studies including over 7 million patients were analyzed. Statin use significantly reduced the risk of dementia compared to nonusers…

and (if you can believe AI) :
Observational studies:
Multiple observational studies have shown an inverse association between statin use and the risk of developing dementia. One large study found that people who took statins for at least 5 years had a 30% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
