I have a 2017 ED with 43k miles. I'm noticing the engines response to the throttle is starting to lag. Could it be because I haven't cleaned the MAF and EGR? Was going to wait until the 50k mark but may do now.

Run some fuel injector cleaner in a tank of fuel for the heck of it.

like mentioned above...on my 3rd Gen I would reset the throttle pedal 'calibration' from time to time to get the response back
