Hello everyone.

Yesterday i went to walmart, i saw a can of engine restore sitting there that was a dollar off so i picked it up.

Put it in the truck, immediately noticed there was a bunch of more power. I was able to skid the tires on a take off launch, with bad overdue for a change by around 30K plugs.

More concerningly, the tick i’ve had for the past 10 years with this truck seems to have just completely gone away using it. I thought it was manifold studs, but it would still tick somewhat when fully warmed and idling. Now it is as quiet as can be during idle and there isn’t a single tick to be heard/felt. It would also shake a little before adding the restore.

Question is: now that it’s verified valvetrain related, what could it be? I do not want to just trust Restore alone to fix my issues.

I've had 3 different 4.7L engines. Every single one of them had lifter(s) go bad. They tick (sometimes for years) before they completely drop the cylinder.
