Hope this at least helps one person from getting their rockers and such getting worked on. My 2012 1500 5.7 hemi with 55k miles. Recently started ticking when started and then quiets down after getting warmed up. Thought it was also the oil pump not working. Come to find out its the bolts holding the exhaust manifolds are loose, or broken. For what i saw I have one that is busted right at the engine block. If its under warranty what i have seen it will be fixed under the powertrain option. Mine ran out 5 months ago but have a case number to see if they will help me. I will have to drill/extract or weld to the bolt. Watch the video. My cart at ebay is $85 for the parts. If they help me out and say its $200 per side etc...i might just do it myself. Could also be happening on the Challengers also.

Its a very common problem on just about every motor with aluminum heads and cast iron manifolds.
2 different materials expanding at 2 different rates.

Yeah, a known issue, covered under warranty. I have read matching will prevent a reoccurrence.

Nice video.

A couple questions

I see you put mopar replacement bolts back in. If the original mopar bolts broke, why use them again instead of another supplier like ARP, for example ?

You also reused your manifold gasket. Is this common and reusable? We always put new gaskets on anytime we took manifolds or headers off.

Finally, is installing a good set of shortys the answer to permanently fixing this issue ?

Yes the stock bolts will break again.

Guys that have switched to headers no longer have bolts breaking.

I would use new gaskets.

I have had good luck so far with headers and stage 8 bolts. Time will tell but the factory setup is garbage the bolts break as the manifold warps. Nothing you can do to prevent it except to try swapping the bolts which I am sure will break again even if another brand or switch to headers.

I used Mopar gaskets
Stage 8 bolts
BBK Shortie headers.

You say Stage 8 bolts. Is that the same as Grade 8 bolts ??
If they are I personal would NOT use the grade 8 in this circumstance as Grade 8 are stronger in some applications but keep in mind being hard also means brittle an you'll have hell to pay if they snap off and then try an drill these ******** out.,, Just my Option.
