Question for the class, I’ve heard from several friends that had a Jeep or knew someone with a Jeep that had the 4.7 and the timing chain guides (driver side) wear out quickly (175,000 miles ish)
Then without warning the timing chain gets slack and kaboom the motor jumps time and that’s all she wrote. Is there any validity to the claim that the 4.7 motors are notoriously self destructive because of the timing chain issue? Sounds like I’m going to be doing a timing chain and guide replacement soon, as a preventative measure. I Want to put 275,000 on this old girl and I’m at 146,942..
Any input would be useful.

Good question. What years were their Jeeps?
I've got 200k on my Jeep's 4.7 and runs like new (so far). I've heard the rockers falling off
