Tinted tails

Getting my tails and third brake light tinted tomorrow. Wondering if anybody that's already had this done could tell me if you could still see the lights alright.

Who you tinting it by? Stock tails and stock bulbs? How dark?

Got a local paint shop doing it. It is stock tails and bulbs. He said it would as dark as he could get it and still see the lights from a distance.

Well, there are those who have tinted stock tails on here, but I would say most of them upgrade to a LED bulb in the tails to see through the tint better. Honestly all depends on how he tints it and what kind of paint he uses.

Not exactly sure what kind of paint he's using need to ask that tomorrow. He said he will tint them spray clear, sand them and buff them. Supposed to be slick and glossy. Think i'm gonna tell him that i'm gonna get led bulbs so maybe he can go a little darker.

I used Retroshop ( JJ )to tint my tails and 3rd...factory bulb, and have CREE LED reverse lights and licence plate lights. I did the 1.5 shade, so several coats, then gloss...look perfectly OEM tinted

Looks good I'll post some pics of mine when I get it back. Are the Cree bulbs bright? I hear a lot of people say that the leds they bought weren't any brighter than stock.

Brighter than OEM, but not HUGE like lighting up the parking lot...but a cleaner light.

Show us a pic with them lit up... They look dark..

I am all for the awsome look tinted tails give a vehicle, but if its at the expense of the safety of myself and other on the road, they won't be going anywhere near my truck, nor will I dirve behind a vehicle with them...
