I know it’s another tire thread but everybody loves tires.

Just wanting to hear some input from guys that either went with 37s and wish they had stayed with 35s and why?
Or guys that went with 35s and wish they had made the jump to 37s and why?

I just went with 35s with no regrets and I don't anticipate any down the road. I think in the decision you have to ask yourself two questions: are you getting bigger tires for looks or for off-road capabilities? If it's off-road capabilities, then I think it's fairly settled that 37s are better (if for nothing else the better ground clearance). If it's for looks, you have to ask yourself if you like more or less inner fender showing. I like a little showing, which is why I went with 35s. Some like less, so they go with 37s. At the end of the day though, only you can answer those questions (after hearing what others did personally).

I do not actually like having my tires extend out beyond the fenders. To me it just makes a mess throwing stuff up on the sides of the truck or throwing water up in the air going down the highway in the rain making visibility difficult. The extra large tires do not help with towing stability on the highway. Road tires are not true mudders anyway and I mostly run on paved or dirt roads but never true cross-country like in the Army.

Using the stock 20x8 inch wheels with their +53mm offset, I decided to limited myself to a tire width of 11.5 to 12 inches. Since I decided on the Cooper AT3 XLT tire (for their overall All Terrain and smooth riding performance), I went with the size of 285x65r20. Might have picked a 295x65r20 (equal to 35x11.5r20) but the tire choices in that size are very limited. Nonetheless either one fits the 2029 Ram 2500 without rubbing and are not so over sized as to require re-gearing or re-calibration of the odometer.

Went with 37" on stock 2019 PowerWagon.
Little rubbing on control arm at full turn but it's all right.

Truck is unstoppable offroad and great towing 5000 lbs for work.

I didn't recalibrated the odo yet, dealer did not manage to do it.
Shifts good anyway for now until a programmer gets out.

Biggest con IMO is the spare tire. You can only barely fit a 35 under the bed.

Sooo, are you weighing towards a 35 or 37 ???

:hmm:

Hey is that the OE step under your rear bumper or an aftermarket model? I like that only that little paddle sticks out.

35x12.5x17E Duratracs on factory wheels(5) for winter driving!

35x12.5x17 BFG KM3s on 17x9 wheels(12mm offset)(5) for summer wheeling and towing!View attachment 198035View attachment 198036View attachment 198037View attachment 198039View attachment 198040
I like the way the Duratracs have worked for me-pavement, mud and sand. Going with 35’s the next time was another option too. Especially since those come in E. Sound like you’re happy with them? My local guy is going to push Cooper when I’m ready. Trying to squeeze 10,000 more out of stock as I’m paying for private school! Think I’m paying for school so my son learns to say you guys instead of y’all. You guys sounds weird with diphthongs though.

It's the original and I like it very much. Rock solid.

Lost confidence because of a sidewall puncture at 1000 miles.

How does yours treat y'all?

Good use of y’all! I’ll learn you right! I’ve seen where the side walls seem to fail but wasn’t sure if that from rock climbing. Guessing you weren’t doing anything crazy when the wall blew? Was this before driving to the North Pole in a snow storm?

35x12.5x17E Duratracs on factory wheels(5) for winter driving!

35x12.5x17 BFG KM3s on 17x9 wheels(12mm offset)(5) for summer wheeling and towing!

Curious as to why the swap. Do you find the Duratracs better in snow than the KM3s? I ask because I'm looking at tires now and have had good snow experience with the GYs, never ran the KM3s...

I went from 315/70/17 Falken AT3W to 37x12.5x17 BFG KO2. Only regret i have is city MPG and also i'm a little bit undergeared with the factory 3.92's and the 6 speed trans. My truck weights 6200lbs without me in it so its about 600-800lbs heavier than a stock 1500 crew cab just with fun mods.

I've been thinking going back to 315/70/17, the only thing stopping me right now is that i shelled out $1800 in 5 tires tires about 8 months ago and it gives me the chills having to think i need to spend an extra $1500 to fix the mishap. I went with 37's for a bit more clearance offroad and because like their look in my truck. But i can do every trail i've ran so far with 37's on 35's and i don't mind scratching my rock sliders in the intent, that's why i have rock sliders :)

I love the Duratracs as an aggressive, all-terrain, snow tire! I ran 4 sets over 100,000 miles on my last Tacoma!

They don’t wear as long on the heavier, full size trucks!

On the PW, they are strictly a winter snow tire! I’m on my second winter now! I’m approaching 10,000 miles on them now! I don’t expect to get a third winter out of them! There’s plenty of tread left, but not enough to be comfortable with them through a third winter! Pretty standard for a good snow tire...in my opinion!!!(2 good winters on the roads around here is the norm!)

Truck looks great! How do you like the KM3s?

The KM3s have been an excellent all around tire! Very good wet pavement manners compared to many other mud tires! (I’ve run Swampers as a mud tires on most of my K5 Blazers!)

ive only run these KM3s for a summer, around 6000 miles so far! I’m very comfortable towing the toyhauler at highway speeds as well as the twisty hills around here!

They do quite well in the mud trails through my woods! At least as well as can be expected driving a boat anchor!

I’m very happy with the KM3s!

I DO rotate 5 regularly!

I prefer the tire/wheel under the truck like the factory setup, but the 12mm offset isn’t too bad!

I have a 14 crew cab lifted 4" on stock sport wheels with 35x12.5 duratracs. I have ran these for around 15k miles, 2 winters in Maine. Tires are amazing in the snow. For 9 out of 10 storms they are flawless. But once in a great while you get that storm where the snow is what I call mealy....hard to get traction in 2wd. And sometimes the truck will "float" a little with the 12.5 wide. It's all very controllable. I'm considering going down to a 33 or so for the winter. But you absolutely can run a 35 year round in snow states
