I understand how it works, I just don't understand why they did it. I do have a tuner because I wanted all the gears I can get. I don't want 2, 2nd gears, I want 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th. There was to much difference RPM in the stock form going from "2nd to 4th" is why I got the tune but I like the way the 66RFE in my 2500 is more evenly spaced between gears. I'm not going to change the transmission because of it till mine explodes but I find the 2nd 2nd or what I call 3rd gear useless. I'll live with it till it dies but I don't have to agree with it or like it. Maybe they should have called it a 5 1/4 speed! LOL

I looked into the 66RFE a few years ago and they are monstrously expensive, and either way you'll need to get a 13 or 14 ECU and then use AlfaOBD to set the trans and ECU to your VIN. If you go later than a '14 ECU you'll spend money money to decrypt the ECU so that you can change parameters, or there is the SGA solution.

I'm with ya, I hate their BS "6spd" from a 1996 Jeep! Garbage!
