Jeeez, I sure hope not. I'm at just over 2k rpm in my 2500 doing 80 and I have 4.10 rears.

Not 1st, 2nd or 3rd? No Trophy!
Guess I should have asked what size and type tires you're on and if your truck is lifted before questioning your RPMs.

Not 1st, 2nd or 3rd? No Trophy!

well, apparently I have hearing issues. It's still there. Drone at 70mph, 1500 rpm. Eco or non-eco

Try bringing it up to 2k rpm or so by manually downshifting. These trucks seem to run smooth and quiet there. Find the sweet spot for yours. These things are always trying to get into the highest possible gear for fuel economy reasons. Problem is, you're practically lugging the engine at 60-70 mph. Alternatively, turn up the radio.

I'm still deciding what muffler I want. May wait until after my road trip in June to upgrade. Highly leaning towards the carven progressive or a custom magnaflow set up.

My 2500 never sees use in "D". Always use Electronic Range Select (ERS +/-). That way you're always running on all 8 cyl. so MDS never kicks in. I "shift manually" bc I am better at picking shift points than a trans designed for a diesel. Tow/Haul mode makes it even better. I HATE how this trans is constantly downshifting bc its in the wrong gear.

I do the same.

If your willing to spend the extra scratch for a custom magnaflow why not look at the Corsa? I've had mine on a for almost a year now and from day one absolutely no drone. Loud as crap on cold starts but mellows out in less than two minutes to a nice quiet rumble at idle. Install was straight forward and took lest than an hour. You will have a unique sounding truck when all is done.

By custom I meant by a muffler and figure out how to adapt it to the stock setup haha.
