I'm the opposite. I left mine open. That lower scoop is in front of the engine, so it will only help draw in more cool air. I would only plug it if you do a lot of offroading and are worried about getting water/mud in there.

No offroading for me. 95% city driving.

GET THE SCOOP!!! LOL
I'd leave it open and let it breathe as much as you can.

I've tried both ways and did not see even a single degree of difference in air intake temps while driving. Sitting and idling though, I saw a huge difference in mine. It was actually alot hotter AIT with the plug IN PLACE! I was VERY surprised. I would have thought it would have been alot hotter idling with the plug removed because the engine heat going into the bottom of the spout. I was wrong. I idle alot at work and my temps can easily get way over 120+ degrees idling. Also, I have noticed a 12-14 degree temp increase over ambient temps while driving with the S and B, no matter what the outside temp is. Whether it was 50 or 95. Same thing, 12-14 degrees hotter than outside air. The factory airbox was always about 7-9 degrees warmer than ambient temps. This is just on MY truck, not saying all others will be this way. I am going to insulate the intake tube and box this week with some homemade lizard skin and see if it will help lower the temps. I know it will be a little warmer than ambient because of the tube coming from under the oil fill cap area. But I just want to see if it will help a little.
