I’ve tried looking online but I keep getting mixed answers. What comes with the standard factory tow package for a 2015?

From the factory you should have a Class III or IV receiver, the wiring harness, a 7-pin and 4-pin connection.

You may, or may not, have the integrated controller which was an option.

Do they come with engine oil coolers and tranny coolers even without tow package? I knew way back they didn't but haven't seen anyone mention this stuff recently when this type of question is asked.

If not then I would add them. Pretty simple to do

The Hemi comes standard with heavy duty cooling for towing...both radiator and trans cooler.

If the truck in you avatar is what your are talking about it seems you do not have the tow package.

How ever all RAM trucks sre wired for 7 and 4 pin.

The towing package would give you trailer tow mirrors. Integrated trailer brake controller. And class IV hitch.

If you have a tradesman or Bighorn. The standard truck comes with a class III hitch which is the bumper.

So, looking at your truck in the pic...you may not have any of the tow package.

We need more info. 2015 is pretty vague.

Are you sure about that? My step-father has had a 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2017 all with tow packages and none came with tow mirrors but he had the dealer swap them. My 2007 and 2013 both had tow package and neither had tow mirrors or factory trailer brakes. These were all 1500's. Step son had a 2015 and 2019 both with tow packages and neither had the tow mirrors or factory trailer brakes either. He had the brakes installed by the dealer on the2019 about 6 months after he bought it.

I think tow package is the confusion.

Guess it depends on how you read what he asks

He needs to give some more info...and what he is actually looking for.

Let me rephrase my answer.

All RAM 1500 trucks come with 7 and 4 pin wiring.

All HEMI trucks are max tow ready with heavy duty cooling and trans cooling.

With a Bighorn and lower trim...standard is class III hitch which is the bumper.

Laramie and up trims...standard is Class IV hitch.

Trailer brake controller is an option.

Tow mirrors are an option.

V6 has heavy duty cooling and trans cooler as an option.

All 2500/3500 trucks come with a class V hitch standard.

5th wheel/gooseneck prep is an option on HD trucks.

So is tow mirrors and trailer brake controller.

When i got my 2016 Ram 1500 Bighorn

It came with the Class 4 hitch receiver & Integrated Brake Controller

I guess there are options for anything

I think that the Hitch Receiver was built by CURT for Ram

Etrailer carries Curt Hitch Receivers at a reasonable price & they are easy to install with 2 people

I can't stress strongly enough, Using just your bumper & a hitch ball is an accident waiting to happen, the bumper is no where close to strong enough.

Even a Class 3 hitch receiver bolts both to bumper & a cross member

Class 3

Class 4

The bumper is rated 500 tw and 5000lbs trailer.

There is a solid steel mount where the ball goes.

The issue is...it is only one height and not many trailers can be attached that high.

You would not have the square tube to put a ball mount into

You would nit believe the number of people who did not walk to the back of their truck to see if the class 1V receiver was there and then blamed RAM for forgetting it.

Agreed. I know 2 people that lost trailers using a bumper hitch. Granter the vehicles were older and a little rusted but one was way back and was a Wrangler. He was towing a small trailer with riding mower. The other was a Suburban towing a pontoon boat. I will never use a bumper hitch for anything

For the 2015 model year the Class IV receiver was an option on the Express and Sport trims. It was on all the other trims unless ordered with a hitch delete or the HFE trim.

The tow package includes the brake controller and towing mirrors. Both were available separately.

Another outlier here. 2016 Outdoorsman, 3.6 V-6. Shows tow package on the build sheet along with Class IV hitch and trailer brake control. No tow mirrors, and despite the post above about how the Outdoorsman was equipped, mine has a 3.21 axle ratio with no locker or limited slip noted although it has the skid plates, LT tires, and 'extra ground clearance". Good thing it doesn't know it's not got 3.92 gears, it just got done with a 750 mile tow of a 5000 pound International Harvester 3/4 ton pickup through the mountains of NC, VA, WV, and Southern Ohio. Average gas mileage for the loaded trip- 14 mpg, 13 in the mountains. I'm impressed with the Pentastar, although if I'd had a choice it wouldn't be my choice of a tow vehicle.

I realize now that we were talking about a 2015. And I also realize that tow package is a vague term that changes from year to year. As even now the tow package on a 2021 is different than on a 2019.

I deal with 5th Gen 1500s and for 2019 the tow package completely screwed some people.

On a tradesman or Bighorn base...you actually got some things...but on a laramie...you lost surround view and powerfold...when all you didnt get standard was the brake controller.

Now the package has changed again.
