TPMS Interchangeability between years

I've been speaking to someone who MIGHT be willing to swap wheels and tires with me. He has a 2015 with 20s and he is already getting a set of aftermarket wheels so the stocks will just be winter/backups. My question is regarding the interchangeability of the TPMS... Will my truck pick up his 2015's sensors and vice versa?

No. Not for a 2012

Yes. He needs to keep his sensors and you need to keep yours.
