Traction control question

Driving around the other day - rain had stopped and the roads were starting to dry. I was going up a long hill and I hit it and the tires were breaking loose all the way up the hill. I got curious and turned the TC off. As I started around a left hand turn I hit it and the back end came around sideways. I read on here that the TC never really gets turned off. Has anyone else had the same results? I had an '05 Magnum RT and I could go sideways from a dead stop with it, but I didn't think the RAM would do it if the TC doesn't turn off.

On mine, when it's wet out, yes, you can over come the traction control, but it's still on.

I kinda tried last night in the same conditions as you describe, and TC won. You could feel the rear tires try to slip, then not, then slip, then not, and so on.......

I will say this, on mine, when it's wet out, you really feel in the inside tire slip when making a sharp turn tho, almost like a locker.

you can disable it compleatly by holding the button for 30 sec or more when the light starts flashing then its disabled i believe it has to be stopped to do it.

or my dsp will completely disable it i can spin all day on DRY pavement with just hitting the button now!

ive heard pulling the plug on the back side will work... never tried it though

Same as Chaney except i can break them loose from a dead stop with out breaking and traction control on doesn't spin as long as it off but i can do it i used to hate it when it rained but i got used to slower accelerations when roads r wet lol

I have never tried to hold it for 30 sec or whatever, but I was out trying to play around with a data logger, and I turned my TC off. I gunned it from a stop a couple times, and drifted a little, then suddenly my truck snapped straight/throttle cut out.

Turns out the TC re-enabled itself after me screwing around for a few minutes lol WTF!!

I can turn the tc off and blow the tires off in my 2012. I love doing it help when I'm on gravel roads so the truck doesn't cut out

All depends on the road, type of weather, and how the system is feeling that day. Some days it will kick in quick, other days doing the same thing on the same road it won't kick in. Like most of the time I can go through a 5-10 mile bumpy dirt road at 40 and then go over the cattle guard at the end at about 20 and it won't kick in(traction control still on, button hasn't been pressed) and sometimes it'll kick in just hitting a bump on the dirt road

My 1500 Outdoorsman will go all the way around when turned off

On / Off truck is downright boring below about 25 MPH.

33" tires, 20" wheels and 3.55 gears suck.
Factor in being at 7,500 ft elevation and it's just... bleh.
