I like the sport a lot better. The only thing the rebel has going on is the air suspension.

Dude if you really like the Rebel and they can get you into it for a cheaper payment. I'd say go for it. I love the look of the Rebels.

Boy do I miss my car salesman days.. I remember getting bored on a slow day, taking a stroll over to the service waiting lobby, score.

Who gives a fk about the payment? You sir are a payment drivin buyer and a salesmans dream.

Id say get your final numbers, then come back and re-ask your question.

Did he also tell you that they have a motivated buyer that is begging for a truck just like yours? That they can give you a great deal because it's in high demand?

Do you buy vehicles based off monthly payments without regard to bottom line price and length of term? There's a catch somewhere.

Nope, but im currently paying 2% interest rate so on my current Sport so wasnt sure if its worth it or not so thought id ask peoples thought

You cant say if it's worth it or not until you see your new interest rate, trade in value, new truck value, tax/tag, etc... Bottom $$, out the door price (loss).

Its a method refered to as boxing the trade, it's confusing to buyers because theres a bunch of numbers, all being different categories (in a box).. In the middle of that box is... You guessed it! Monthly payment.. That's the front number you see, and the only one you'll understand.

This could probably be googled? Not sure.. But as a salesman, I studied buyer tactics/techniques... So he probably has too, along with monthly sales classes and seminars..

Read, learn, but don't be a liar..you'll be called out either to your face, or over at the counter.

This has turned into a kinda buyer tip lesson, rather than answering your question.. But I think it needs to be told in this case.

He boxed the deal on you without even using paper.

I love bringing my monthly payment for a vehicle in. I always figure out the price I am willing to pay and then figure out the monthly payment and bring that to them when they ask "how much do you want to pay monthly".

They always tell me its impossible, but somehow end up doing it after a fight :)

What other details do you have? How much do you owe on your truck how much are they giving you for it?
At the end of everything if you decide to do it, you will loose money even tho they make it seem like a great deal with their tactics

Good luck

Funny you mention that last part, I received that quarterly letter (that ends up in the trash) from the dealer about getting top dollar for my truck to get into a new 2016 Ram.

I never sold cars, but I've been in sales in some way, shape or form for the past 9 years. I LOVE buying vehicles.

Anyways, don't forget to check your insurance payment increase/decrease. But like everyone on here has said, get all the bottom line numbers and see where everything lands. And like I always tell people.... Never EVER take the first deal... No matter how sweet it may be.

Just from I can tell you'd be loosing all of the monthly payments you have made on your current truck. Brings 2014 that's a fair amount of money

I know you are feeling that new car ich...but personally, If they are talking just monthly payments, I would start with at least $50 less a month on what you currently pay.

It does 2 things.

1. Numbers play in your favor (make sure it's $50 or more less a month, and not a month longer that 72 months..even better go with 60 months)
2. Put the ball on their court.

You got to push these guys hard...plus it's the end of the month, so you can push them harder...come April first...they will take it off the table. You can always walk away.

I would never do it for the sole purpose in that I want to pay off my truck to get something else. I have less than 2 years left. I'm having the dodge charger ich really bad.

Only thing about the Rebel I am not a fan of is the Red leather. Especially if the truck is anything other then black. Other then that, it is growing on me.

The funniest thing is... You told a complete stranger how much you pay a month, and basically how much you can afford. When they ask me, I like to have fun and start asking them what their credit score is like and how much their car payment is.

Once they find out what you do for a living, and a few more silly questions to build rapport.. Can probably guess how many bills you have in your wallet to the closest 10.

($6 and a credit card?)

I had people so ignorant, that I was telling them under the table that they're being ripped off and can do better... Lol.. Not saying you are..just saying.

I like the sport over the rebel. I can't afford either, but that is just my honest opinion.
