trailer camera for upgraded Uconnect 8.4

Just a quick update on my upgrade last year: I installed a Uconnect 8.4 from a 2020 Ram 1500 Classic into my Canadian 2017 Ram 2500 SLT Classic with 8.4 Uconnect (I think it is equivalent to the Big Horn US). Almost a year later, everything is working well except for a couple of minor glitches. I'm looking to connect the newer 8.4 Uconnect to a travel trailer backup camera. The trailer came with a GMC transparent trailer view system. Unfortunately, it will not work with my RAM truck unless someone experienced with the camera system can advise me on what may be needed to get it connected. Aside from that, the newer Uconnect has an extra port on the back of the unit for what I think are side cameras; can that port be used for a trailer backup camera? If so, what kind of cable and connectors are required? I appreciate all of you for your experience and knowledge.

I believe the extra spot is for a factory cargo camera. @Mpgrimm2 or @SitKneelBend may be able to guide you in the right direction. Try searching the forums for cargo camera as there are plenty of posts. No idea if you can get the trailer camera system working. But, I have no doubt someone on the forums has tried. Good luck with the project.

Upgrading the radio to one from a 2020 Classic should be plug-n-play along with upgrading the media USB hub (wiring adapter harness needed).
As for the adding a camera, I know the 8.4 radios will support two cameras, back up and cargo camera.
The bigger problem with the trailer cameras is they maybe a digital type camera and the 8.4 radios from the Gen4 trucks I believe only support analog type cameras.

When I did this install I did connect with MPgrimm2 and ordered the adapter which worked great. I will try the cargo camera threads and see what I can find.
