Happy easter everyone. My son just bought a 2004 Ram 1500 and it has the fold out trailer mirrors. My truck is a 2017 2500 and doesn't. Neither truck has the puddle lights or the turn signals but both are power adjustable. Are they switchable because I need the tow mirrors and he doesn't.

They will not work the 2017 has an external temp sensor on the mirror. With out that installed you with throw a CEL and exterior temp won't read

Kind of weird to me how many 1500's I see with them and then to get a 2500 and nope none. Kinda sucks. Plus dealing with dealers who keep telling me that if the truck didn't come with it you cant change it. This site shows how untrue that is.

I went through something similar with my 2014. I had power foldable, puddle & signal lighted sport mirrors on that 2500. I needed tow mirrors. I managed to change them out and get the sales code flashed.

Same generation swaps work. However, a 4th gen truck won't accept a 3rd gen set of mirrors due to the harness and sensor issue Lifted2wd mentioned.

You'll just have to find some 4th gen tow mirrors for your truck. There are a pair or two for sale here and you can always contact 1A Auto as they have mirror sets for a good price there.

So if my 2015 RAM 1500 only came with basic heated mirrors, all the wiring and everything for signal and puddle lights is still present? The new sales codes just need to be flashed?

I don't think all the wiring is in place if you only have the heated mirrors. At least that is what I was told when I wanted to upgrade the stock, heated, non-folding mirrors on my 2015 Express.

All the wiring is there, you just need the sales codes flashed. I did it to my 1500, also have them flash the code for the mirror controls to switch when the mirrors are flipped up.

I don’t remember the codes right now

LEG is for controls, LER is powerfold (Requires new door module), LEB & LEC for Puddle/Turns. This is if I'm remembering correctly. I only needed LEG for my 1500 and I had it flashed when I had my Mopar Brake controller activated. It makes the up position adjustment a hell of lot easier for sure.

Thanks! I thought that was them, but hate spreading wrong info.

This may sound dumb, but when should the puddle lights come on? I had my dealer add the 3 codes while I was there earlier this week, but didn't have the tow mirrors yet. Now that the tow mirrors are on, I can't seem to get the Puddle Lights to work. The turn signals work and the orientation works, but I don't see the puddle lights come on at all. Since I've never had them before, when should I see them come on?

When you open the door, or hit the unlock button on your key fob. If they don’t, they might not have programmed it correctly.

OK, that is what I assumed. I'll see if the dealer can verify that they applied the LEB code.

Not any 4th gen will work together, 13+ have the temp sensors in the mirrors, 09-12 dont

I bought a 2016 2500 Big Horn Cummins 2 weeks ago. The puddle lights weren't coming on. Youtube has a good short video showing exactly how to test them and or replace them. I was getting power to the connectors when I unlocked the door so ordered new lights. Very excited! Got the lights and immediately installed them. Unlocked the door. NOTHING!
What gives?
HELP! ?
