i have a 2006 ram 1500. My 4x4 dosn't seem to be sending power to the front tires all the time. I noticed a grinding sound that does sound like a streched chain in the transfer case but not 100% sure or even how to tell. They was also some popping noise while under accerlation and turning. Snapped this pic of my passanger CV today. Defently something wrong with that some sort of oil. Would bad CV cause a grinding noise also or just a popping? Would this photo indicate more then just replacing the CV? Truck runs great in 2wd, all noise happen in 4wd and all dash lights indicate that 4wd is engauging. What you guys think the best rought to start fixing things?

Its very possible you have a bad axle shaft, as far as the fluid looks like a leaky seal. You can check for excess slop in your half shaft, thatd be a good start
