Transmission issues

Having an issue with transmission. Pops in and out of neutral while coasting down hill. PRND Lights flashing. Wont let me shift out of park. I keep adding tranny fluid but it only needs a little when I check it. Now I've lost all forward power but still have revers in full. Seems like it is stuck in the highest gear.

Might want to tell the board what transmission you have, how many miles, year of trunk...things like that go along way...........

2012 RAM 2500.... 250,000 miles.... Automatic 66RFE.... motor has been swapped twice, fly wheel has been changed.

Any trans filter, fluid replacement lately?

I have not done them, already have new pan and filter in route before the issue came into play. I've only owned the truck for 3 months so unsure of the last time its been done. Fluid looks clean when I checked it

Did fluid/filter change and still having the same issue but added limp mode to the symptoms!

Man I don't know where to even start, nothing is possible the way you wrote it. Can't peel apart that onion. You would need to post every sentence and then explain it, because your post is a mess boss. You said you cant shift out of park, which means none of the other stuff happened.

So the prnd will flash and won’t let me out of park, so I start it in neutral and I can shift into gear from there, now when driving it seems fine until I come to a hill and coast down it ( in drive with foot off the throttle) the prnd starts to flash again and it feels like it’s popping into neutral and the back into drive. The last time I drove it did this and put it into limp mode

Sounds like a brake problem, it doesn't explain popping out of neutral, but I guess it can be possible.

Cars used to have a shift lock button that bypassed it, but I dont think ram has one. Research shift lock release, interlock switch, etc.

It might even be WIN module related, but I'd look at braking system first. You have one of the best years for ram trucks the 2012, the only year with the 6 speed, it's worth fixing and keeping.

The 6 speed isn't very common on 1500s after the '12 model year, most have the 8spd and he doesn't like that the 8spd transmission doesn't have a dipstick.
Was your truck originally from Canada?
The ZF 8spd is a vastly better transmission than the 66RFE. Not saying the RFE is a bad trans but it has its quirks and the 8apd has proven itself to be quite dependable.
