Strange how the world works, I just did a quick check and my 2018 just received an offer for $39,404.00 I have 73,000 miles on her... must be the CUMMINS that is pulling that price

I bought MY 19 Bighorn in Aug 2018, for 41K out the door. Above is what KBB says worth right now with 16,500 on Odometer. I checked and looks like cost me 10-15K to get into a new truck. They also have TRX's here and price on MSRP goes from 86K to 93K.,. wahoo, not won lottery yet, LOL.

No way I sell my truck. Paid, have "pink" slip, best type of truck around...

Had a salesman offer me what I paid for my truck in trade. Bought it new 4 years ago, but the new one would still cost another 40k on top so I passed.
^^ this in bold is the issue. a gen 4 sport with the options I wanted could be had here in Canada during the 2018 clearout for 46k plus taxes. the identical optioned truck now in a gen 5... add $35,000 cdn. in 3 years?!?!

sadly we don't have the vroom's or carvana's up here in Canada, it'd be fun to play with those to see what offers come in.

Yeah, it's nuts. If you buy at the right time during max incentives you're still looking at a 50% increase in price for the same trim in a 5th gen vs a 4th.

Anyone try to sell their new truck? I purchased a 21 5.7 etorque Limited a couple weeks ago. It does just about everything but make coffee but ... I’m a little disappointed in how it pulls my 8x19 cargo trailer (seems underpowered at highway speeds). May need to step up to an HD.

I'm not going to lie i habe thought about seeing what I could get from my truck once I get it lol. It's a build of $66k that I purchased for $45k. I wonder if I could make money on it...

Well, just for the heck of it, I pulled into my Local RAM Dealer earlier today. They had a clean looking 2019 Laramie Mega Cab 2500 for over 70K< price inflated 20-30%. They wanted my 2019 Bighorn on the spot, they were talking somewhere like 42K, so I am like, well, to go from a MY 19 with 16,500 on odometer to a MY 2019 2500 Mega Cab single axle Cummings truck, 30K plus, ah no way, LOL. But it was blacked out and pretty, I had to stop to admire.

I traded in 3 of my vehicles last week!

Traded both of my Ram 1500s for the truck in my sig (I don't live in Texas anymore lol). Traded my wifes Hyundai Genesis on a new JLU Wrangler.

Insane what they are giving for trade ins. I was fortunate to have a Ram Private offer of $3500 on top of rebates and my wife had a Ram private offer for $2500 towards here Jeep.

Paid no sales tax on the new Ram and heres the kicker, I traded the 2017 4x2 Ram with 83k miles in northern Ohio for $17,000! Just two year ago when I moved here I was offered a measly $11K LMAO

Thank Intel for a lot of this. They used to make about 35% of the computer chips but have fallen off to around 12% recently. Big company in Taiwan makes the majority of chips and they are 30% faster. US automakers cancelled all the chip orders when Covid hit thinking nobody will buy expensive vehicles.

Intel just announced they are hiring about 4000 to ramp up the fab here in Albuquerque. There'a an even bigger plant in Phoenix, dunno what's happening there.

If the PRC decides they want Taiwan back our trucks will probably 2x in value.......or we'll all be riding bicycles.

Traded my 2018 1500 Night Edition on Saturday. Didn’t need to, but couldn’t pass up the deal. Keeps me from spending thousands more on suspension and other upgrades. I already had too much into it.

Stayed in the Mopar family atleast, got a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sorry for the bad picture. 8eb010de3ef20f373d0c06411295e470.jpg

Nice! I was lucky I was able to get a non-etorque Hemi with the Trailer Tow Package (Trailer Steering/Trailer TPMS). And lucky to get the JLU with 2.0T minus etorque. Only a matter of time before the gov't shoves electric cars up our a$$es... Had to dealer trade from 200 miles away and most dealers would not trade.

My dealer was sold out of Wranglers/Gladiators by the next day. Has a few Rams still, but in grocery getter configs and ugly colors and tons of Compasses weirdly, no Grand Cherokees.

Oh interest rates are great right now too, my credit is not perfect and I was able to score 0% interest. Icing on the cake

exactly my opinion, own my 2016 outright and it does everything I need it for. would be a waste of money to sell and buy new.

Seems like everyone is excited that truck prices went up. Yes, you're offered more money for your trade in, but will have to pay whole lot more for another one (that you didn't have to before). What's so good about that?!! The only way that would be good, if you're going to stop driving all together and won't need a vehicle anymore. Also, I would not hold my breath on prices going back down once the chip manufacturing level returns. Good things don't last...just ask your parents and great parents:)

I paid below msrp for my ram and msrp for the wrangler. Plus $6000 in Ram private offer money combined with rebates.

My dealer bent over backwards to get my three trade ins to replenish their lot.

With wranglers you drive off the lot with equity -even before covid. This is my third one, they always treat me right. And right now I drove ram off lot with equity.

Everyone’s situation will be different and the OP and myself are outliers. If you are smart about it, huge win.:)

Must be market/geographically driven. Maybe because there's about 16 RAM dealers in a 50 mile radius, but the lots I pass are pretty full - maybe no one was buying? There seems to be plenty of trucks around here. I did a Carvana online appraisal and my lease payoff in 6 mos is exactly 30k and I'm being offered 37k now, so it seems about even. But hey, gas prices are up - good times....

I have not worked for 15 months now due to illness, so i have not put any miles to talk about on my 2016 Ecodiesel
I usually put between 20 - 30,000 miles on my trucks in a year.

If i had been working, i would be out of my Extended Warranty

If that had happened, i too would be thinking about getting a 2021 Ram Ecodiesel, or if the timing was right, i would settle for 2022 :)

Hope you get better soon GT. Been following you around on the many different forums for years. I think I'll keep my paid off 21 Limited for now. Does all I need it to and I have my 21 Cherokee as a daily.
