I have had my 2012 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7 Express since it was new. I have now seen that there are many different types of programmers out. I am just wondering what the best tuner is for the truck. I have an Airaid MXP full intake system that I installed about 4 months after I got the truck. But once I get back from being deployed I plan on doing a tuner and exhaust. I am already going with Magnaflow. Any help would be great. Thanks

Welcome to the forum!!

Bullydog make a great tuner for our trucks, but if you plan on running a custom tune then I would suggest going with the Diablo Trinity. The Diablo tuner would be my first choice regardless!

Thank you so much for the help. I am kinda leaning towards the Diablo now. I sell Hypertech where I work but with the overwhelming of Diablo makes me very interested in it. But with those answers I have another question that pops into my head. What is the catch cans main benefits and what is the purpose of it exactly? Also what other mods would be a good recommendation being as I have about another 8 months before I can work on it again since I am deployed to Afghanistan at this moment in time. I have already done the Airaid MXP intake system, I have also got on it a Bedrug, Access Cover, 2-12" Access LED Bedlights, TAG Truck Luggage, Access EZ Retreiver II, DeeZee EZ-Down, Putco Plasma LED Reverse Lights, PIAA Headlights and Fog Lights, Putco G3 Dayliners, and WeatherTech Front and Rear Floor Liners. Im looking at going with Magnaflow cat-back exhaust and the Diablo tuner(now). Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks all

I know after doing my own research, I went with a Mufflex for my exhaust. It's a bolt in replacement for the stock muffler. I read it's approximately a 2hp difference between the systems, at a third of the price. The stock exhaust system is stainless steel and pretty nice as is. Can save yourself some money to put towards other things if you wanted.

Dug up the thread explaining the catch can.

TL;DR : catches oil from your crank case and prevents it from going into your intake.

This is exactly the post I was looking for. Going to buy the Diablosport Intune for my 2011 Ram today, just wasn't sure of what tuner I wanted until I did some research in the forum. I already have a CAI and Magna flow exhaust, I just need a little more to help turn the 35's. :)

Dont forget the Hemifever tune. A Diablosport without a HF tune is like an apple pie without the apples. Just not much there. If you buy the tuner from Moes or HF the tune is free!!

BINGO. Diablo makes a nice tuner, but Hemifever's tuning makes the canned Diablo tunes feel stock. If you are going to go the Diablo route, I highly suggest adding the Hemifever Tuning.

How much do they charge for Hemifever's tune if not purchased through them?

If you go through Hemifever or Moe's, then we include the custom tuning for free with the Trinity. If you go with the InTune, then the 03-10 tuning is a $50 upgrade, and the custom tuning on the InTune DCX for the 2011-13 trucks is a $40 upgrade. If you purchase the tuner elsewhere and then have Hemifever write a tune, then he charges $125 for the tuning.

I already paid for the tuner from an auto accessorie store by me that I get all my stuff from for $380. What is the benefits of the Hemifever tune over the tune that goes with the Intune?

HF tune is a custom tuned based on how your personal truck runs. The Diablosport tunes are good but there is a lot more to give. I noticed a huge difference when going from canned tune to a Hemifever tune.

So then what would the process be to set up the tuner. Do I just plug it in to the truck and run it for awhile and then send how it run in?
