As a gift to my Brother for a wedding gift, I will be turboing his 2013 1500 along with the help of my soon to be sister in laws brother, her father and his best man. Between us we have 30+ Years of welding experience and fabricating. The plan is to use a 80mm or 76MM Turbo. The basic plumbing idea is to use either stock or shorty Driver side header, fabricated passenger header to have flange at 12'o clock around where the stock airbox is. The Driver Header will merge with the passenger in the same area as the factory connection was. the 2.5" pipe coming from the pass header will go into turbo, the exhaust gases will be piped down along the pass header and meet up with the factory 3" piping the wastegate will vent into the the downpipe alongside the pass header. Anyone Have a suggestion for a wastegate and BOV? We are pushing for around 600-650RWHP and will be running a built transmission and new TQ converter. any tips are much appreciated!

Im running all turbo smart stuff

When choosing a wastegate size remember the lower the boost level the larger the wastegate mm needs to be...
Im running a 46mm but will be pushing 15-18 psi of boost
I would reccomend on yours a 52mm or twin 38's

On these trucks it may be easier to do small twins, one on each side to eliminate a long header on one side. And it would make plumbing so much simpler.

How small are we talking? 60-70mm?

With twins, something in the 58-63mm range would be a good suit. Since these trucks lack on the bottom end sometimes, twin 62's would be a monster and give you enough to hit 650+... That's what AGP uses for gen5 camaros but the Hemi truck motors flow more gasses down low than the LS3. Plus with fabricated headers you'll have plenty of heat and flow.

I've seen 62mm to 68mm turbos used in a twin setup on the hemi, the 68s took longer to spool but moved a lot more air, again depending on the A/R and where you want to make your power. Twins are a cleaner install and reduce piping, but cost more money and can have issues tuning them.

Money is slightly a factor, we have no labor costs besides tuning but we want to keep the parts cost down below $4K

If you're building, it can be do e for under 4k. You wanna problabaly stick with turbos with a 1.25AR to keep the spool times down.
Look up AGP, they have some cool options for turbos hat would work well on a Hemi.

Well ordered up all the header building parts from SW. Going to Tig weld it all and then do flow testing to make sure there are 0 leaks in the welds. Plus side of working for one of the largest plumbing parts manufacturers is I have access to all the leak down test equipment. Still deciding on the turbo or turbos, I get the ease of doing twins, but dont know if he will really benefit from it.

Hopefully haha. Onus thing really holding me back of doing mine is having to pull the transmission to get rebuilt. Duster is at engine builders for next 2 months and no other car to commute in.

Brother of the year for sure! But I completely understand the test dummy thing.. Lol
To get a stock internal Hemi to 600+, you're gonna need a good size turbo. Drive ability may suffer with the lag time. Just speaking from experience, not with a Hemi, but in general with other toys. If it's gonna be a daily driver, I'd seriously consider twins. You could probly get it done with a couple of 62's with a 1.25 housing on the back.

What?!?!?!?

Twin 62's with 1.25 A/R exhaust housings would never spool.....:roflsquared:

Wow, yea sorry. It was late and the diesel side took over! Lol A/R is the crappiest way to size a turbo.

Something in the .85- 98range would make a lively truck down low.
