So to make a long story short, whenever my truck kicks into MDS I get a pretty bad rattling sound that I think I've narrowed down to a faulty cam phaser. Rather than tackle that job to fix the MDS that I don't want anyway, I figured I would just get a tuner and disable the MDS entirety. My question is, has anyone used a tuner to turn it off and if so, what brands? I know that I can shift into manual mode and disable it that way but that becomes an issue if anyone else ever has to drive my truck. Ideally I just want to shift into drive and go. Can that be done?

Diablo or a bullydog bdx
Diablo you can do more with but bullydog has better canned tunes. I would recommend the Diablo because tuners are addictive check out moes performance and get one with the hemifever tune at a discount. You will not regret it

And a tuner won't have any affect on my ECM correct?

I recommend calling Moes as they could better explain and it’s a lot faster to have a conversation and answering direct questions you might have. Tuners seem pretty daunting at first because there is a lot to take in. But the benefits other than just turning off mds is tremendous

You could just set the ERS to 5 and disable the mds.

That is what I do now, but as stated in the OP I would like to just be able to put it in drive and go, especially if anyone else ever needs to drive my truck.

Whoops, missed you were already using ERS.
