I just got back from the dealer. I made a spontaneous visit and asked about any software updates for my Uconnect system and also asked about TSB-08-016-19 Rev B or Rev C. The service advisor looked up the Technical Service Bulletin and said that yes, it addresses stereos with sound distortion and also volume issues. Right away I'm thinking it's THE FIX for overly bassy equalizer settings and overly loud Android Auto reading of text messages. He said there were two software updates related to this TSB and they would either take 1.3 hours or 1.9 hours to install, and "if your truck scans as one that takes the update do you want to wait while we install it or make an appointment and come back?"

"I'LL WAIT." (It's only been 7 months, I can wait another 2 hours in a dealer's customer waiting area!)

A tech took my truck back and scanned it, but alas, the software updates that would address the issues in the TSB do not apply to my truck. The service advisor said my truck's Uconnect software application version was 21.9, and was up-to-date. There are no other Uconnect software updates available for my truck. He also said he's aware of the overly bassy radio problem and the last thing he heard was that an OTA update was going to be pushed in June to address that issue and many, many more issues. This is essentially the same story I heard when I discussed the issue with the service manager when I got an oil change about a month ago.

So there you have it. Apparently 2018 Rams with the stock 6 speaker, 8.4" screen are not part of the issue being discussed and solved in TSB 08-016-19. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to run your truck into the dealer and have them check it out.

June sucks, but let's hope they're really taking their time and actually f$&5ing testing their software this time. You know, like maybe they'll actually drive a truck with the update for a week and go through all the radio/system functions before pushing it out to thousands of customers... What an idea!

Again, they have had MORE than enough time to roll back their horrible change and re-OTA the software as a new release with the *old* code. They have not, so my guess is that they literally have no idea WTF they are doing and as such, no idea WTF to do to fix it.

They don't even have to come up with a new one I would just be happy if they sent application 19 back out. I mean can't they just do that and call it application 23.

Hi everyone,
Recently there was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that appears to address concerns similar to the symptoms that you are having with your vehicle. To ensure this TSB applies, we would like to get you back into the dealer to have a qualified technician review the details of the TSB and specifics of your vehicle. Once reviewed, the technician can then perform the repair procedure that best matches the symptoms and diagnosis of your vehicle.

My dealer has quite a delay in getting appointments. I am currently setup for May 2nd. Is there a way to know if one of the tsb fixes will actually be applicable by vin number? If I have to wait weeks to get it in there and take time off work just to find out they can’t do anything again I am going to be super pissed.

Do you have the UAS radio? I think that is all 8.4" screens.

Assuming you have a DS (2018 RAM 1500) you should be updated to v22.6. v21.9 is correct for "All other" models, per the TSB....but yours falls under the DS bucket of "should be updated to 22.6".

My UAQ has 22.5, and it still sucks, my bass is turned all the way down to make it sound acceptable, and every time i turn the truck off and turn it back on all the voice volume levels go back up to 15, so Speed warnings, Android Auto Directions, text message alerts, etc... So they all scream at me every time they first come on.

I have the 8.4" screen without Navigation.

Are you saying the dealer made a mistake yesterday leaving my truck with software application version 21.9?

I messaged my friend that's a tech at a local dealer. He put in my VIN and said the TSB doesn't apply to my truck. He said it's VIN specific and hopefully it'll eventually include my truck.

And I have a 2018 2500 (DJ) with UAS radio and horrible sound. I was really hoping it would work on mine

Well if you have a uas and the build date is right. I quess you get to try a new version. So maybe there's hope.22.5 has been out a while I can't tell the difference between it and 21.9

I didn't have access to my truck earlier, but I just looked and my build date is 09/18 so maybe that has something to do with it.

Those of you who are eligible for the update on your 2018 UAS radio to v22.6 take a blank USB drive with you and ask them to put the file on it to share here.

2018 rams with UAQ may be able to get updated to v21.9 from the sound of the tsb.

I went to my scheduled appointment at the dealer today. I asked them to check to make sure they had the updated software and that it was the correct software revision for my truck. I have a 2018 Ram Ecodiesel Big Horn. TSB 08-16-19 Rev_C is not available for the dealer to download yet.

So, they sent out a service bulletin for a software that is not available. Smh.

Yeah, pretty upsetting. BTW, my dealer told me that Panasonic is the one that releases the software updates/revisions. An even bigger company than Uconnect. That’s really mind blowing!

Looks like us UAQ (C4 NAV) owners are still S.O.L.
