@CrasherAsher - I'm not sure if it's possible but if it is, I would suggest going back to your first post and change it so that it states "NOT" to use these guys just in case someone only reads your first post. Sorry you're having to go through this, I've dealt with some shady people in the aftermarket and it's never fun.

The best you’ll ever get out of a engine rebuilder is going to be a refurbished engine , they’ll install your cam and top-end parts but most of what they sell is only inspected as sight unseen, ( to make it affordable ) and if it turns over they put lipstick on it ( in your choice of color) and call it a day.

One of the red flags to let you know when you are dealing with a remanufactured service is the stipulation of a heat “tabs” installed that distort in order to detect abnormal temperatures for warranty purposes.

The whole reason for them to mention this is because this is the conditions of warranty for them to follow from the contracted refurbished engine supplier….

A half decent rebuilder ( engine machine shop ) would make certain the recipient vehicle’s cooling system be more than adequate to handle engine break in temperatures.

He paid a shop to, "upgrade" and rebuild his engine. He expected to have a working engine with the modifications he asked and paid for.

Obviously these idiots that did the work had no idea what they were doing or Crasher would have a working truck again.

Sucks he spent so much money on this. Hope it works out for him.

Hunt around you can find brand new crate engines for not much more then $5,000.Awhile ago,like last Christmas you could buy brand new 6.4's for less then 5K when Ma Mopar had them on sale.You should of spent a few minutes on google,before you got sucked into rebuilding your engine

Once again thank you guys for all your help. I am getting my truck back form the shop today (8/31/22) the motor is in pieces. Arizona Engine wont fix it unless i cough up another 4k.
So i am bring my truck home and going to find another way to get it fixed. And buying a crate engine might be my best bet.

First would be a lien against the shop, then small claims (not sure the limits there). Hopefully damages plus atty fees.

Alright I think this should and hopefully be the ending of this 6 week nightmare of mine. There is allot that has happened since i last posted but here are the cliff notes. I showed up to the shop about 2 weeks ago without warning and demanded my truck back. Dave I think was actually taken off guard he did not argue with me or say that i couldn't have it. he said that would give me truck back but it was pieces and parts of it was all over the shop in different areas being worked on or inspected. he even took me into the garage and showed me. I said fair enough it was late in the day, I told him get it all the parts into the bed of the truck and I will be back tomorrow.

Cut to the next day, Dave called me first thing in the morning 9am when the shop opens. He explains to me the best he can do, due to there warranty policy is charge me labor only. I considered my options of 1. start a lawsuit 2. take it to another shop or 3. do it myself. all those options are going to cost me allot time and money mostly money. or 4 let him try again. Because of my severe lack funds I said go for it and gave Dave another shot at fixing my motor.

I got my truck back 9/8/22 Dave put 100 miles on Rousey (my truck) and change the oil before he put his stamp of approval on it. which he probably should done in the first place maybe not 100 miles but at least 30-50 miles. Since having Rousey back I put close to another 200+ miles on her. So far she is running good nice and strong. i have been taking it easy on the throttle doing my best not to go over 4k rpms. Dave recommendation was to change the oil at 1,000 miles but i may do sooner then that. I am running conventional oil till 3,000 miles. then I will switch back over to synthetic.

Man, that is one hell of a saga. I'm glad you have your truck back in running order. Sorry you had to pay labor again for the shops mistake.

Hopefully, it didn't set you back too much farther than you were already. I'm sure they had to redo alot to get you back on the road.

I admire your restraint and patience through the process. I'm not sure I would've held up in your situation.

Believe it or not you guys did help the knowledge and support on this forum is bar none. Just having you give me options helped cause it at least gave me different avenues to explore instead of just staring at dead end.

Do NOT buy one of this guys Builds, simply for the fact, he probably ain't building them, as evidenced by his heat tab warranty policy. Heats tabs are common to engines, bought by huge wholesale rebuilder, then shipped off to small rinky **** shops. That;s how the shop gets a new engine, sent them to them, to replace the customers bad engine, when the rebuild customer comes back, because his newly , supposedly 'rebuilt' engine is acting up.

Exactly as happened with the Original Poster, to this thread. His problem was goign with upgraded cam and lifters, not the shops.

Get yourself a brand spanking new engine, Long BLock, from Mopar.
Warrantied by Mopar.


Pay to have the engines swapped out by a shop.
I doubt that I'd let this Arizona Rebuilds Shop add air to my tires.
