Ill anwser my own question. I went out after all my updates. And the my truck shifts at 6100 now after setting it to that. Did a quick 0to60 time and had my best ever with a 5.19sec run. Im running a 91 tune with 93 octane.

Any ill effects that may happen with a shift point that high?

No trucks pretty much solid up to 6200. I know benny hubbard has his set at 6800 and he shoots alot of nitrous at his with zero issues.

I got my HF tune back in October and it was set at 6000 but shifting at 6100. After a few data logs I was getting a 5 on ST after the shift, so I backed it down to 5950 and it shifts at 6000 and the ST went down to 3. I still think I was getting more out of it at 6100 and I think the ST is from the sensors picking up a hard shift or maybe the dipstick hitting the headers. Think I will move it back up in the spring.

Did you do any data logging?

Them most I saw on st knock was 3 one time. Maybe because I have 93 oct with a 91 tune and throttle boost set at 10% and yes it felt stronger then my whitelightning tune 93 tune. Im really happy. Thats 5.19 with th stock 20s and crapyears. Very happy with it.

I was running 93 octane with the 91 tune when I got the 5 ST. So I got a BT Catchcan and still got the 5 ST. This is part of the reason I think the sensors are picking up another noise and not true engine knock. From what I have read it is pretty common to get ST after a shift.

Dusterman. Knew you wouldnt stay un-tuned for long . LOL. Nice vids on u tube.

I appreciate the compliment. Yes these trucks run like rabbid apes with the right set up. I was untuned for awhile because of the troubles with people having with white lightning. So I took it low for a while. Now im back at em.

Yeah I watched 100s of videos before I started modding my truck. Its good to see what works and what doesnt before spending the cash. Im looking to get a set of slicks this summer so I can go to the track and get some good times. With what I have now it will just spin the wheels until 60 mph.

You might want to change your sig line if you are running a stock tune otherwise people might think you are good with your old tune. Just a suggestion. I would look at peoples mods when deciding what mods to get.

Umm, a catch can is not going to reduce knock.

You could be getting false knock that the sensors.
From what I read though you should aim for 0 Long Term Knock Retard and low Short Term.

A little ST knock is not a bad thing and you will get some when the truck shifts.

Really? That is a commonly debated topic that I dont want to get into lol.

and what makes it even funnier is it's only in the MOPAR world... lol

I have a catch can, but still don't think there's a benefit to it. I think maybe after 1000s and 1000s of miles. But who's going to take off there intake manifold to found out. There should be many MOPARs in the 100,000+ range by now.

I think we can name 100 other cars that dont run catch cans that are still running today..haha

I have one as well. It is a cheap enough mod that I didnt mind taking a chance on it. More importantly, one of the best tuners for these engines recommended I get one. He reads and analysis alot of data logs when it comes to mods on these engines. I wasnt about to argue with him about it lol

Its not only Mopar. Catch Cans are used on a wide variety of engines.

After seeing how much oil mine has caught so far, I'm glad I got one. I would think a catch can will help the engine run better longer, even if it'd run for a while without one. For as long as I'll have the truck, I think it was a good investment.

on the move..

I checked my last log today. The highest was 2.5 ST right after the 1-2 shift and 0 LT. The A/F ratio ranged from 14.7 while cruising to 11.4 at WOT, so I think that is a good range. Im still glad I got the catch can to keep the oil out of my intake. You dont have to pull the intake. You can just pull the throttle body and see how dirty it is without the catch can.

Even more if your in a deep winter climate where warming up your truck before driving is a must.

Sometimes its hard to get to the temperatures needed to burn it all off for a while.

I have my stock TB on my bench right now. It only has 70k km's (45K ish miles) on it... but you can see it's already a tan going on brown film on the intake side of the butterfly.

CC will be here by Monday according to Fedex.

A catch can is a must. If your tuned for say a 91 octane tune. And dont have a catch can. The oil vapers can go back into the chamber and lean out the fuel to a lower octane rating. You have to have a catch can for a tuned hemi. Unless you want burnt up pistons.
