so just a little rant here
i called to schedule my water pump to be replaced a week ago. so the dealer knew a week before tuesday they would need a water pump right. so why did they wait to order it till i dropped the truck off? so now here i am in a rental till the part comes in. just doesn't make sense to me .

Duh! Because you're supposed to walk over to the showroom and buy a new truck!

You're taking food out of the salesman's kid's mouths because you insist on them fixing your truck.

The dealership gets to bill FCA twice for warranty work. One for the "diagnostic" which allows them to order the part and the second is to bill for the actual replacement work.

It is how the warranty process goes that they cannot order parts upfront without verify the complaint no matter how obvious it is to you and even them what the problem is.

FCA does not bill for the warranty diag and repair separately. They don’t even pay the techs for diag, it’s “included” in the repair. Which is crap. We used to get paid separate diag, not anymore.

I'm not sure of the diagnostic/repair warranty process, but as an ex-computer repair guy, I do know that you never trust customer diagnostics. Every once in a while you get a guy who knows his stuff, like you appeared to here, but for every one of you, there are at least ten idiots. Thats across the board, computers to appliances to cars and everything in-between, all brands and manufacturers.

A customer can come in and claim "so-and-so's cousin's boyfriend's dog's uncle's roommate said this noise was a flux capacitor going bad" and insist that you replace the wrong part. Many times, even if you prove to them in a very obvious way, that that part is not the problem, they will still insist.

I understand that many dealerships can be crooks, and some will take you for a wild money ride if given the chance, but there are also a lot of dummies out there that frustrate the good dealerships and mechanics. So even if it wasn't part of the diagnostic/warranty process, it would probably be dealership policy.

That is the way it works FCA, the vehicle has to physically be there and inspected before any warranty parts are ordered.

A customer can’t phone in and say “ My oil pan is leaking and I have warranty so order parts, I’ll be there Friday”. As you said many times it would not actually be what they thought, and now someone has to be on the hook for any parts that were ordered.

Well...what is it? Not a Hellcat, of course, that's a tired, old joke by now; maybe a '19 DT Ram of some sort, then?

Spill, man, spill!

We hardly ever replace water pumps on the hemis, it’s actually pretty rare. That’s likely why parts aren’t in stock.

I dont think there are very many vehicles that live up to their price tag anymore. When looking for a new car for my wife I was fairly disappointed in the interior materials of the Lexus ES350 (which we eventually bought her). For that price I expected more at least padded vinyl covering door panels, etc. But compared to other cars in the same price range, the Lexus was still the best.

As far as trucks go, I think the RAM is still the best value out of all of them, especially at the Big Horn trim level. So many features in that package for a darn good price. Comparable F150 would have been at least 3K more around me (the Ford dealers around here are very very proud of their trucks, and it shows in their unwillingness to deal)

as my wife and i drove around in the caddy the other night i said my ram outdoorsman has most of the interior features the caddy does. and for the money i would want some type of updated gear selection device. i know the "knob" we have in the ram is loved or hated but this caddy has a shift lever from the 1990's design group im like really. it knows when to put the windows down when the wife breaks wind but it cant have a super high level interface with my thoughts to know when i want to shift into drive? lol a bit extreme but really a big clunky shift lever in this all touch screen world we live in. hahahah
