shame on you dirty truck equals lazy person

not necessarily. Life happens and especially the short daylight hours of winter, only leaves the weekend in most case, to get stuff done. Circumstances of the weather back to back systems that moved into your area. Or freezing temperatures where dragging out the hose complicates things a little more.
also if your trucks value to you is solely in transportation so the mechanics, the lubricates, the p.m., will have way more value to you than the exterior. But yes not everyone falls into that category and would let you wash their truck for them because they will admit to being lazy.

Really? Maybe people have more to do like run the farm, work late to catch up, do house repairs, etc instead of dallying around with a hose in failed attempts to wash the paint off their trucks.

the other side of the coin is being a good steward with what you have resell value and trade in value could be impacted by lack of cosmetic care, like not putting an UV protectant on the dash and leather would/could allow cracks to happen prematurely. or allowing Mud to stay caked on the body could cause the clear coat to fail.

no reason to throw rocks in a glass house from either side.

personally I want my investment to last and hold resale value so I will take care of it as much as needed. I probably won’t be excessive being in my current stage of life, but nor will I neglect it completely.

Almost every time I wash my truck, I actually enjoy it, but I’m weird like that. I like mowing the grass I see instant results which gives instant gratification. Likewise when I wash my truck.
Now I wash my wife’s SUV for other reasons...

cheers!!

True. Mines beat to hell and dirty! But mechanically she’s sound and I stay on top of maint. I’m under my truck checking components more often than the most obsessive clean freak.

:anitoof::anitoof::anitoof::anitoof::anitoof: oh wait! We’re you serious lmao.
Different strokes for different folks.
Some look at a car wash as a chore, others look at it as a hobby.
Also up-bringing. Will have a lot to do with both viewpoints.

Yes I get that. when I was in the Rockies every possible weekend with my Jeep I spent my time likewise. Sucks to break something you could have prevented on a class 6+ trail where only a few people could get to you. And the tow truck minimum is $750.

on the flip side my truck only has 11k on it so maintenance has been second to MODS! Haha.

Hey Tracy, do you off road with it? If so do you sport the dirt/mud/snow down the side of it for a few days?

I commonly get off-road during hunting season, it gets pretty scummy. I usually let it show for a while. If it's below freezing, it might be weeks before I wash it (don't want water droplets freezing in all the little nooks and crannies).

Depends on the weather and if I have time. I take care of everything I have as it doesn't come easy. Yes it's a tool for off-roading, some hauling dirt bike camping etc but I'll wash the truck asap as I do my dirt bikes after running them through the muck.

I'm of the mindset that people can and should do whatever they want with what they buy. If someone wants to bling out their PW and prop a rainbow flag in the bed of the truck why should I care...

I closed the poll and the result of the consensus was 62% of us wash their truck very soon after a run off the pavement. Only 24% share my vote and 18% don’t wash their trucks at all or very little.

Thanks for playing along.

Your missing out. When you drive through Conroe, look me up and I will help you change that “ever” off road to “all the time”...haha
Well the point of this thread was not to see how frequently ram owners wash their trucks on a normal basis but if it gets washed right after off roading or not.
I would have loved to have taken my late short bed with the limited slip and Radial A/Ts off road, but I never got a chance. The replacement is a Quad cab with factory running boards and the 3:21 standard gear.
I don't expect it would get very far. Planning on renting a Jeep when we go to Big Bend in the spring.
I have been stuck in Security, Cut and Shoot, Cleveland, and Montgomery when I was younger. Not up for the hassle now.
When I had my 87 Isuzu Trooper it motored thru everything fearlessly and got washed immediately afterwards.

I’m not sure how many folks understand the poll but
22 of you wash your trucks same day or next day after wheelin’

12 Ram owners wait a week or so to wash off their off road experience.

and (11) peps are just lazy! No just kidding.
11 owners are probably like me and get a new truck every 1-2 years. Question to those of you in this category: Do you use synthetic oil or save the money because you know you won’t keep the vehicle long enough to get your moneys worth?? I struggle with this question every oil change.

On my 13 I used synthetic oil and took perfect care of it, washing it when really needed. It got totaled last month so I wasted all my money and effort. It was the last vehicle I was ever going to buy. I am undecided on how well I am going to take care of the new one. I don't love it.

May I strike the last word...Thank you Chairman.

Climate plays an important factor in the washing of anyones Power Wagon. I grew up in Trancas, California (Malibu) which is a far different climate than living within the Rocky Mountains. There are no sun tan oiled topfree bikini babes here. Washing the mud off of my trucks requires some sure steady footing due to any slight slip on the concrete ice covered concrete and onto your butt you go. The safe car washing seasons are limited to less than 6 months of the year. It's more like 3 months of warm weather and then there's no car washing after that due to it's not feasible. I would love to wash my Power Wagon today, but it is freezing weather with snow flurries.

I will pass you the Gavel. All yours. Lol

I was in the same boat with my last truck (except the totaled part) I saw more potential in a Power Wagon. But even though I love my current truck the 2021 PW will be in my future most likely.
so no ceramic paint coats or changing all fluids to red line as I know me, and I won’t even put 100k on my truck before I trade it in. though I am in the market to build (rebuild) out a classic Power Wagon(50s) with my sons. That kind of truck will get the long term kind of treatment you gave to your last truck.

I am 69 and my off-roading is behind me. Also, I paid 71k for my HOUSE! Not about to ever pay more than 20k for a pickup truck.
Just in case you might think that I'm no fun at all, we do have a Gold Wing trike that we put many miles on. We will ride it to Big Bend and then rent the jeep. I know a undiscovered canyon off Black Gap road that has never been documented.
