I read several posts from other Ram owners about having a water leak in the backseat. In my case, the wall behind the backseat and even the seat itself is very wet after what was a day of very heavy rain. The driver's side is somewhat wetter than the passenger. All the items I had stored behind the folded down seat are absoluely soaked. In these posts that I read, the 3rd brake light was talked about. I assume that this is the light at the top of the cab above the rear window. In my case there is obvious water behind the plasitc of this light. There is still about 1/2 an inch of water behind the plastic and this is more than 24 hours after the rain. I do have a rear window but it does not seem that that is the scource of the problem. In some of the posts I read, the air vents were mentioned. I do not know what these are??? Could that much water come in through the 3rd brake light? air vents? I am bringing in the truck tomorrow to the dealer for an oil change. Any advice as to what I should insist that they do or not do about this leak? The truck only has 13,000 miles on it. I am so disappointed that this has occurred. I really like my truck.

I've just seen guys take the light out and silicone it. The vents are the black rectangle things you see between the box and the cab they usually stick out about 3/4 of an inch.

Third brake light fix:
There another thread here somewhere, about that, An aftermarket seal option. I put a "P" shaped 7/32 x 3/8th rubber window seal, self adhesive, MD brand, on the recessed metal lip, where the OE seal on the lens wound contact it. Its tight. Had to be careful to not over tighten the screws, as I didn't want to crack the lens. I had not had a leak prior, just being proactive. Spayed directly with a pressure washer many times since no leaks.

ELBIE, First WELCOME to the group. As mentioned the brake light is the most common source for a leak, Next is the Shark fin on the roof. As mentioned some used window weather strip material. A few post here on it. I just purchased a thicker gasket. It was posted on sire. I will share the link if I can find it . Also Check out our Senior thread , for us Crusty Old Farts :)

Found it ,have not installed yet

Truck was in for an oil change Thursday but the dealer could not address the leak problem at that time. Truck is going in this Tues to assess what the problem is. I am somewhat nervous in that water leaks can be very difficult to detect and at the same time can be very damaging.
Will find out what the dealer has to say.

I had the same problem on my 2012 Sport. It was definitely the third brake light. It was fixed under warranty but the problem came back a few months later. The truck was no longer under warranty and the dealership wanted to charge me for the repair. I argued that they apparently did not fix the problem the first time. We went back and forth a bit but they eventually fixed it. I have not had a problem since the second fix. Good luck with getting it worked out.
