Is it warm enough up there to splash? Figured they'd still be icebreaking lol.
Lake mac water was 61,62 degrees, i had the boat out on the big lake for the shakedown run but didn't check water temps...it definitely was not beach weather
Now, when it is, I will take the boat out on the big lake, anchor in 3 feet of water and Wade to shore for a cookout and a tan, bur what was going on last week was a little different
I live in a town of roughly 30 000 people, and once a year we take a week of to celebrate our Dutch heritage
During that week we get some 5-600 000 tourist come through our little town and traffic is a pain
So, apart from the klompen dancing my girl does i had to be downtown for one of the parades, as well as the fireworks
The parade route passes by kollen park, and the fireworks are shot off from a barge across the lake from kollen park, and best viewed from the park
Now it just so happens that at kollen park there is a restaurant on the water that has docks and a boat launch, also with docks
On top of that, there is a boat launch less then a mile from my house and about 20 minutes of no wake boating from the restaurant
So, on the day of the parade, I put the boat in the water at 11 and mosied on over to the restaurant for an early lunch with the wife
From there it was a 2 minute walk to the parade route
On Saturday, I put the boat in around 6 and did the same thing, only now I docked at the launch at kollen park
Best view of the fireworks around, a cooler full of cheap pop and snacks for the kids
Plenty of blankets in the cuddy against the chill and several really comfortable seat to sit or lay on
After the last bang, I pulled my bow and stern lines and I was on my way home, half an hour later I was on my couch
So, a little chilly to splash around, sure...but sometimes the most illogical mode of transportation is in fact the best
(Pics are from a few years ago, but you get the idea)
