Anyone recognize these things? Now I found a second one on the shop floor.

I'm trying to find an exploded view of the front of the engine and oil pump I'm thinking there might be something there. I've looked closely at the front of the engine and I don't see where it might live. I don't know if it even is from the hemi but, I'd sure hate to find out later that it was.

Could be a bolt spacer
It doesn't look like it would be, there is a slot on both sides and a hole with a slight taper through the center. It sort of looks like it might be something to "alter" oil flow. Thank you for your help.

Why not try a Google image search?

A macro or closer image would likely be better.

Well, I'm old and not as computer savvy as some so I thought I could turn to this group for some assistance.

Here's a .pdf of a 2010 Ram parts list, it has views of just about everything with part numbers. Try looking at the engine section, find the different components, and search google for the part numbers, maybe you'll find something. Let me know if the link doesn't work, pretty sure I shared it to everyone.

I included the directions to use google image search, it's not that difficult to use.

I've saved you the trouble. It was not able to find a solution.
I used the image with AI for the following results;

The image shows a collet, likely used as a tool holder in machining applications such as milling, drilling, or on a lathe.
Here's why and what it entails:

Function: Collets are designed to securely hold a tool or workpiece by applying a clamping force when compressed, ensuring precise centering and stability during operations.

Appearance: The object's cylindrical shape with a central bore and visible slits along its length are characteristic features of a collet, allowing it to expand and contract for gripping.

Material: Collets are typically manufactured from durable materials like spring steel to withstand repetitive use and maintain clamping pressure.

Common Use Cases: They are widely employed in industries like metalworking and woodworking to hold various tools (e.g., end mills, drill bits, router bits) or workpieces, particularly when high precision and reliable clamping are crucial.

Thank you for your effort. It may well resemble a collet but I think it is more involved. Im leaning towards possibly something in the oil pump or something in the front of the engine. I've been out of the game for close to 20 years. I don't recall seeing a part like that during the service schools back in 2005 or so. Memory has lots of rust in it.

You're most welcome.

I will send the picture to a machinist buddy and see what he thinks.

Unless you had a box of old CNC parts tumbling around the shop, I suppose the collet idea is a bit unlikely.

Most of us have rusty brains. LOL

These spacers in the timing chain tensioner look to be the right size and shape. It has plastic ears that correspond to the slots. And 2 would be the appropriate count for a Hemi.

Thank you for that! I'm going to take a close look at the chain tensioner.
