I've got a 2012 Hemi Crew Cab with just over 5000km on it, I drive about 40km each way to work every day, mixed highway and gravel. Including command start to warm up, I get around 12-13MPG
Well I don,t feel to bad then after reading your honest responses. To the OP all I can say is on my overhead board 15.3 MPG US is exactly 15.2 Liters per 100 km Canadian Side of things but I don,t always get these knds of numbers unless I am driving slow.
According to my math, I got somewhere between 18-19 mpg on my last tank. But that's with conservative acceleration and steady speeds on highways and rural roads. It falls off considerably in the city, but I don't do enough city driving to worry about it.
I did see around 20 mpg on the 400+ trip to Florida @ 70mpg. But that was downhill with the wind at my back.
If you have a choice in a choice in engine and gear try to find a Hemi with a 3.92 ratio. I have a 2006 1500 and when I got it it was pulling 8 city and 13-14 highway. I put a Green Filter cold air intake, Superchips flashpaq (set on 91 performance tune), and a magnaflow single to dual muffler 18" with 3" inlet with two 2.5" outlet to keep the torque up. This jumped the mpg up to about 13-14 city and 17-21 highway. It also can smoke a Nissan 370Z as well.
I have the 4.7 with 3.92 gears...driving back and forth to work, which is mostly highway, I get 17.5-18 MPG...if I am on the highway, no lights or stops at all, if I set the cruise control at 60, I can pull 21-21.5 MPG...
But, heck, we don't buy trucks for miles per gallon, we buy them for SMILES per gallon!
