So I posted a couple weeks ago about the issue with my new 1500 EXP 5.7 6spd. and the gear "hang up" and droning at some speeds especially when slowing to turn and then accelerating. Well it appears to be increasing in frequency and is so freaking annoying. I just turned 3000 miles. Dealer says no codes are being shown. I am at a loss for what to do. I've tried putting it in tow /haul mode which seems to help but don't like the higher speed highway driving using that. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love this truck as far as appearance and function except for this issue. I just can't imagine producing a $34,000 vehicle and having it sometimes sound like a little old Honda Civic with holes in the exhaust. Simply frustrating!!! I recently put a bt can on and am planning for a CAI and TB in the near future.

Are you sure you're not experiencing MDS and it switching back to 8 cylinders on acceleration? Try bumping the shifter to "6" and do some driving around. If that takes care of it then it's MDS.

Use tow haul unless you are on the freeway, that is exactly what I do. By habit I always push the button and RPM's usually remind me to take it off on the freeway.

Are you running an aftermarket muffler? That's the only way I'd think the MDS would be noticeable enough to annoy anyone. The stock exhaust does a good job to hide it.

I just sent you an email about this exact subject...then logged onto the forum, and found this thread. I agree with Tyler. It sounds like this is just the truck going in and out of MDS. Try manually putting it in 6th gear next time you drive the truck. as this will prevent MDS from activating. Let us know if that takes care of the problem. If so, I have a Diablo tuner here for you that will allow you to disable MDS permanently ;)
