I'm sorry but I know nothing about these new radios. Seems the technology has changed drastically since my '11...Just bought a '14 blackout(hasn't arrived yet) and evidently it comes with a 5.0 uconnect and I don't know a damn thing about it. They any good? What are the features, pro's & con's? I'm totally challenged with this stuff.

I need the idiots tutorial. Thanks!

I can't talk for the 8.4, but I had chance to try the 3.0 and I sounded like crap compared to my 5.0. So I believe that the speaker are not the same.

It does all my touchscreen pioneer did. It sound really well with good bass.

It's easy to use. For now I don't have any complaint about it except for the Bluetooth , one day the sms is working and the other day the radio says my cellphone is not compatible, and the only way to make them working again is to remove the phone from the radio and pair it again

It can control some preference for the truck ( horn when you lock the doors, entry light and some other feature like hill assist.

If you have a backup camera it will show it with 2 lines that turn with your steering to show you where you will go.

You can use a usb key and use your own playlist. Also you can play music from you cellphone by bluetooth.

I never kept a oem radio in my truck or car because I didn't like them, but I'm sure this one will stay there until it will die, I'm hoping in many years from now haha

Cool thanks. Sounds like it's not too shabby. Is it upgradable? Like adding navigation/cd/dvd and such if it doesn't already have it?

Ok I see that I can add gps to this radio for the low low price of 600 bucks.
Six Hundred Bucks!!! Holy crap.
Think I have a shot of getting the dealer to eat this one before I take delivery?

Ra2 (uconnect 5.0) doesn't have the navigation option the last time I checked. You need RA3 (navigation upgrade) or RA4 (has navigation).
Another forum stated they had some success upgrading their uconnect to a more complicated uconnect. I believe it was a ra1 (uconnect 3.0) to a ra3 (8.4). They had it flashed but not all of the features work on the 8.4. Last time I checked.

I have a 5.0 and last 2 days it would restart and shut down about every two - three minutes. In have to flash the new update.

I wouldn't pay for the Navy you can use Google maps or anything GPS on your phone and Bluetooth it through your radio. If you still have room to barter think of other things.
Just my 2cents.

Phone GPS blows. I miss my RB1 from my 05. I will pick up a used nav unit soon. Get the chance, buy it.
