Make sure you burp the system get all of the air out of the heater core. If you check the blend doors and they all check out then... Its heater core replacement time It is a big job but not the end of the world it can be done in 1 day.

Any luck or have you even had a chance to fool with it?

Yeah, heater core is the highest point so first to lose coolant and I imagine first to take on air if it's in the system. For whatever reason these trucks can be difficult to get all the air out.

Curious - any difference in temp between driver's side and passenger side? If so, I'd lean towards heater core still clogged. Also, did this just come on one day or gradual?

It's almost always your heater core, if flushing didn't work your going to need to replace it. I've seen it 1000 times.

With that said, it looks like you have some sort of aftermarket head unit? Are you sure that is controller the HVAC system correctly? I'd be a little suspect of some aftermarket chinese head unit and it's ability to integrate with the system properly.

What

mtofell asked
this year i finally had core replaced after a few years of band aiding it by flushing the heater core both ways.
Now the heat will run you out of truck.
Fllushing it is just a temporary fix, to get you by.

Any codes for a bad coolant bypass valve by chance? Mine failed open and had a weak heat condition. First Rock Auto replacement was incorrect and hoping correct replacement part arrives today. Updates to follow.

Only the 8-spd trucks have these valves and some of the later model Hemi truck also didn't use them.
I can't remember exactly which way it goes but there two versions of the valve, one is for the gassers the other the EcoD. One of the two versions has an extra electrical connector can be used in either gas/EcoD the other cannot.(don't quote me 100% on this)

As I'm dealing with a bad valve ('15 with the 8 speed), AND I accidentally purchased the part for the EcoD rather than the correct part for my 5.7. I'd say it safe to write your quote on a rock! : )
The correct part should have arrived at the house today; diving back into it when I get home.
