A little irony that you post about wanting basic but then talk about getting keyless entry. I see your point about things breaking but I can honestly say none of the power things have had any issues for me and I have 09 Laramie so had all the options you could really get back then. I can see where yes simple is nice but convenience speaks louder on resale and of course the reason many pick Ram over some of the other less refined models in the first place. Even the ride is somewhat a luxury most people buy 1500 use it as a people mover and stuff hauler but have way less comfort than we do. Hard to complain about it when it works but expensive when it does not I get it. I would not own a vehicle without remote start or keyless entry.

I see the irony, lol. If they'd have had a truck like mine without the power options I'd have bought it and never thought about keyless & remote start. Since I've got power locks and it's been sooooooo cold this year it's got me thinking about it.

I have a diesel so I always want to leave it running while I go into the gas station. What I do is open my door (doors unlock), close my door, hit the lock button, open the door again, get out and hit the manual lock as I close the door. I carry the "door" key since I have the fob. Then I unlock it with the key to get back in. I also have a quick connect on my keys just for this purpose.

Well I'm sitting at the dealership getting an oil change and asked about adding keyless entry. They informed me that it was virtually impossible if it didn't leave the factory with keyless entry.

I don't know anything about the "D-Ball" system so I can't comment. I went directly to aftermarket.

If you have power door locks then 99% of the aftermarket systems will solve it. They just usually add a relay to do it.

I bought a Smart Start system from this guy and he was very helpful. Since then, a few other guys here have bought from him and were happy. His name is Ben and he deals with remote starts, keyless entry, alarms, etc.
I bet he can find you an ideal combo to get what you want and, most likely, make it all plug & play - no splicing wires.
His prices are great, also.

Edit: For those of you with heated seats, the DBALL will turn them on with the remote start, just like the factory system. It just needs to be programmed to do so.
