I took my 2020 Power Wagon to the dealer in March as my rear window defrost wasn’t working. They said the issue was the electric element and so they would replace the back window under warranty - as they should. I went back 2 weeks later to have the window replaced and they called me at the end of the day and said they had ordered the wrong one and they’d have to order another. They had taken the original out and now I was stuck with a plastic wrap in place of a back window.
Here’s the big issue…wait… the proper window isn’t due to arrive until October 17!!!! I questioned the length of time and apparently that’s when the next one will become available and there are no other ones kicking around North America! They even talk a local glass dealership about an after market one and the wait was going to be similar.
@RamCares Does anyone know about a glass shortage? Does this seem bizarre to anyone else?

@AllMoparParts.com Benny, what are you hearing regarding a replacement rear window?

@Andrew Austin Did you search online at all? I did a quick search and it seemed like replacements are available. Perhaps provide more details and Benny can help you out. If you provide your VIN he can at least look it up and see what the delivery says in his system. That long of a wait is flat out ridiculous. I personally wouldn't want to drive it that way for that long. Good luck bud, hope it works out for you and in a lot less time.

Example, obviously it may not be exactly what you need but at least some appear to be available.

Id definitely have them put the original back in for the time being. Free of charge, of course.

Had kind of the same problem with a front glass, but at a glass shop. They ordered by VIN, and it came wrong, so they ordered the correct one, and installed the one that came. Just had to take it in again to get the proper one installed.

Odd, I blew the rear window out of my '17 a month or two ago

Called my local glass guy and he ordered both (to make sure he had the right one)

Both showed up within 24 hours and he installed one and returned the other

The whole ordeal took less then 48 hours

Under the circumstances I would verify why it was the wrong one. If it actually fits but maybe does not have the right built in defroster or power mode they could at least install it so you don't have a sheet of plastic covering the opening.
I wonder if they messed up the original one when removing it?

There is one part number that I can see has some backorders but I am unable to see the input and ETA dates as they are not our orders. In general glass can take up to 45 days to get as its not stocked by any warehouse, It comes directly from the vendor.

Thanks, Benny. I am not sure why the super long back order, but they are telling me October 17. It will have been 7 months when it comes! I am in Canada, but I can’t see why that would make a difference. Last year I ordered a leg for my outboard boat engine and it arrived on my doorstep 4 days after I ordered it from Florida!

They said the sealant is hard to get off and it wouldn’t seal properly putting it back in.

My seats on my 21 75th had the “tenting” issue. Took it in for replacement at end of 2021. Still waiting on the rear passenger cover. I knew the mountain brown may be difficult to get, but didn’t think it would take years!!! The dealership has been great and in constant communication. Just have no suppliers. I’m not hopeful to get it replaced and will just have to live with the tenting on that seat.

I went through the same thing with my 20 Power Wagon but I needed a grille. Shop ordered it at the end of January. I waited until mid March before it came in I wound up taking a day off of work and driving to Detroit for a used one just so I could get my truck back.

Sounds like a crap dealer. And they probably broke the old one. To remove it. A glass guy could pull it re-seal and reinstall no prob.

Just went through the same thing on my 21. Needed ring and pinion gears. Was told they were backordered with no eta. I guess luckily another customers truck was in with similar issues but more. Long story short they used his parts order for my truck. Only took a month and was told the dealer loaner was also waiting on parts.

I don't know about now but in 22 i was putting a 4-wheeler in the bed of my 2021 PW and broke one of the sections. Had a new one installed in less than a week cost 1k only issue is they hooked the electrical connection up backwards and now it opens when you push it to closed and closes when open.

Would be nice to know if the parts department submitted the order as a "Vehicle Down."

ADDENDUM: Recently I had to replace my front windshield due to a stone crack. I demanded a factory OEM replacement and it only took two days to get it.
