Truck is running.

So once at the dealer The entire time I was dealing with the guy that’s head of the service department. As ****** of a situation this was he was super nice to me and I was super nice to him. Respectful.

Now....i dont Remember where I left off at because this thread is a mess so I’ll go back just a little bit before today. The last thing it came down to with what I heard from the locksmith that could not fix it and things that I have researched as well as your guys help i possibly needed an RF hub. They were apparently on back order but I found the last one in my state so I Took the chance of buying one just to be safe and drove 190 miles to get it last Saturday..... in my wifes new Ranger[emoji16]....by myself.....testing the turbo[emoji1787]

Got home and Removed the backseat in my truck and pulled the sound insulation away from the back wall so when it got to the dealer all they had to do was plug and play. Took work off Monday.Monday morning I got it towed to the dealer.

When I got to the dealer they tried to flash the original RF hub and the new part that I got. Did not fix it.

It came down to the ignition that I needed ..... you know the original part that we thought that did not actually need a pin number or did not read the chips in my old school keys (no key fob or keyless entery, just a metal key) ....
the ignition also was on back order but the dealer apparently found one somewhere in the country at a dealer.

Because that part is on back order that dealer would not give that part up. They wanted to keep it on the shelf. He got FCA involved. They forced the dealer that was holding the part to give it up.

In the end this was the one and only time I had a great experience with the dealer. Parts availability is not their fault. He contacted Chrysler yesterday afternoon about the problem, got the part, installed it in my truck and called me before I got out of work at 2:30 today.

He tried getting Chrysler to cover the bill because my truck is so new with so few miles on it but they wouldn’t do it. 9 months out of “bumper to bumper”. Still in powertrain.

Total dealer bill was going to be around $560 total.....but when I got there he told me he’s only going to charge me cost for parts and no labor which brought it down to $330ish

So I paid for new keys, for flashing The new ignition with the new pin number and I paid for the ignition. They did not charge me for flashing the RF hubs.

So $330 today
&
$360ish before it went to the dealer for a New battery, muiti-meter, test light, 2 Uber trips and an RF hub that i drove 190 miles to get.

Anyone want to buy a brand new RFHub....?[emoji16]

I recently had this happen to me on Wednesday (11/20/19). I have the remote with lock, unlock, panic and remote start. A couple of weeks ago, when I put the key in the ignition, I would get a message that said, "Key not Recognized"...
I ignored the message because I have been through four or five key fobs (2015 Ram with 66k miles).

Well on Wednesday morning, I start the truck from the app, get in a running truck and the key turns....Nothing...I stop for a bit...restart the truck from the app, insert and turn key...nothing...
It ended up costing me a day of work.

So later on Wednesday, I grab my Crown Royal bag of Ram keys and randomly put in a key....
Truck starts up like nothing happened.

Ram/Chrysler, whomever needs to remedy this because the key fobs & ignitions are crap...this could leave a person stranded.
I have even bought a Ram key from a locksmith & it worked for about 3 months...

Ram knows something because as soon as I replaced my stolen tailgate, a national recall was issued to thousands of Ram trucks.

Sorry man. That's my general go to. For some reason my past vehicles fired up that way. I don't know if it was a lack of brake pressure when I was in drive. Or if the drive gear slipped so it never was in park. But in neutral it was in a more solid gear. Hope you find the devil in the machine.
