I would go with the factory rebuilt at that price.

Does the 9000 quote include labor? If so I agree with CamperMike, go with the factory rebuilt. If not, go for the jasper or a junkyard engine then sell it or trade in.Update. Dealership telling me factory crate engine is not an option. They stated they cannot get them. Gave me two options a Jasper or a factory rebuild. Jasper will cost $9200. Rebuild will cost $13000 but Chrysler has offered to contribute $4k making my cost $9000. Thoughts? I was not interested in rebuilds or Jasper but my options continue to get smaller. FML
Both quotes include labor

My suggestion, save the piece of mind till you get everything settled with Chrysler. I would also make sure Chrysler will cough if you don't use the dealer. Even if they won't may still be worth having it done elsewhere but would be good to know going in.On Monday I'm planning to pick up my truck on a rollback, giving them a piece of my mind and taking it to another dealership. I've got two other quotes both around $3000 less than this dealership quoted me. Both with two day lead times when this dealership said 10+ days (who tf knows how long it would sit there). If Chrysler comes through with the $4k like they said I'm hoping to only have around $6200 in this thing instead of close to $10k. Factory reman 3 yr/100k mile warranty

Nice looking truck man, I hope you find a good solution.
Good question I will ask. New dealership said they will do their own diag before doing anything. They said who knows you may not even need an engine if the previous was just trying to sell me on somethingHow does that work with factory 'rebuilt' engines -- do they need your old one back? Even if it's 'blown-up' as you say? If they don't need to send it back to chrysler (they probably do) ...but if they don't you could keep it for parts or sell the parts ..if there's anything salvagable on it. Or, if you don't care, don't bother. I assume they want it back, but was just wondering if it came up in your discussions.
