Anyone try Modifystreet headlights?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm very eager to test them. I think I have to be the pioneer and take some before/after pictures.

I found some discussions about the Morimoto XB LED:s but they seemed to be having more problems like melting etc. than light output.

We tried some cheap LED-bulbs but the light output got slightly worse than original.

Be sure to post what your experience with them is if you get them!

What I don't understand is why those 1000$ quad led's don't have the bottom light strip switchback and sequential...

Probably trying to use up parts from the older generation would be my guess.

After having everything in and running for the week, I ordered some 35w 500k HID yesterday. The Hikari are good for LEDs in projectors, but they’re just too blue for me. I don’t see as well with the blue light. I had 5500k HID in my TYC projectors and they were almost too blue. These projectors have a much better beam pattern than the TYC so I’m looking forward to getting the HID in them.

Hey guys, I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on the Alpharex 2019 look G2 upgrade (for dual/quad) lights, after coming back to my truck to discover that one of my stock quad lights was smashed.

I wouldn’t use the stock halogen bulbs, but I’m agnostic between HID kit or LED. I’ve been reading through this thread, and it’s very informative. Is there a consensus on the most reliable (ie least likely to throw errors, blink, or randomly turn off) aftermarket H7 replacements to use with these, either LED or HID? Assume I’m not after absolute maximum brightness, nor do I care about color (between, say, 5000 and 6500k). I just want it to work and be as close to trouble free as I can get!

Related, if I opt for HID, how does the 55w conversion kit that is offered by Modifystreet compare to the 35w kits that various people on this thread are using? If I want to run HIDs in both low beam and high beam, presumably I need two kits?

Thanks up front!

Taking silence to mean no consensus, how about this one ... has anyone had fitment issues with either the Katana LEDs, the Hikari Ultra LEDs, or the Modifystreet HID kit? Conversely can anyone say whether any one of those three will work for both low and high beam applications?

I’m not running the G2 series but I went from quads to OEM style projectors. I run Innovited 55W HIDs 6K in my lows and have have no problems at all!! I run Hakari 6000 LEDs in the highs and used AlfaOBD to make the necessary changes. I wouldn’t think HIDs in the high would be good as they need to warm up compared to LEDs that do not!!

@Thunder240 Hey bud, a couple weeks ago I was in your exact position. I bought the G2 from Alpharex directly. Currently I'm running a 35w innovited HID kit 6000k in the lows, Katana LED in the highs. There wasn't any fitment issues whatsoever. The only issue I had in the whole process was a "Parking Lamp Out" error whenever I hit my turn signal.

Tonight in fact, i finally used Alfaobd to correct the issue which involved turning on HID. Setting LED for highs and lows to no, LED Parking/Markers to no, LED Front Turn Lamps to yes, and change the voltages for front left and right corners from 13.0 to 12.2v and same for headlamps and low beams as well.

Overall very happy with these lights for th $384 I paid.

I think @1500ram12 has probably used both of those LEDs in both High/Lows without issues and changes his headlights more than some people change their underwear...lol I think he used a Innovited HID kit in the lows as the ballast fits inside the headlights. The Hikari Ultras fit and work fine even being in a '15
You wouldn't want to use HID for the high beams due to the warm up time.

No fitment issues with anything other than the morimotos xb that I'm currently running. The katanas are a little stubborn to fit because of how rigid the wiring is but do fit no problem. Hikaris fit easily. The Innovited 35w and 55w hid's (separately) fit with a little effort. The ballast has to be placed in the lower opening. I honestly didn't see a massive improvement between the 55w and the 35w hid's. So either is a great combo. For highs the katanas are cheaper (price) and I felt were brighter than the Hikaris.

Haha yes I change out my lighting way to often but am trying to find the best option.

I have the first version I just installed a couple of weeks ago. I originally went with Hikari Ultra in the lows and katana in the highs. The lows were bright right in front of the truck, but I don’t see as well with the bluer bulbs. Cutoff was nice and sharp though.

i just finished installing the Innovited 35w 5000k hid and while I haven’t gone for a drive, it is much brighter against the garage. I think I need to try to adjust the drivers side bulb though because the cutoff is a bit wonky now. If I line up the tabs on the bulb base with the notches in the projector, the return wire is not clocked correctly and it casts a shadow. When I do line up the return wire at 6:00, the bulb seats a little off because the tabs aren’t lined up and it’s putting a bow in the cutoff. I might have to notch the base to make it sit right, but I didn’t have time to mess with it tonight.

Pictures if you wouldn't mind...I'll likely be doing whatever you find works best!

I will get some pics of the cutoff before, pics of the notching, and after pics. It might be a couple of days though.

Well, my wife (who thinks I’m crazy for Messi g with my lights so much) got called in to work, so I went out and fixed it. I marked the gap for the tab with a sharpie and just trimmed around it with a pair of *****. Here are some before and after pics (excuse the dirty door, I need to break out the pressure washer).

These are the photos of what was trimmed.

All that being done, I think I’m going to order either just some 55w ballasts, or a 55w 6000k kit. They are a better color and project better than the LED, but I feel they could be brighter. My 5500k 35w Morimoto kit in the TYC projectors was brighter.

Guys, I really appreciate the plethora of responses! Based on what I heard, I ordered the G2s, Innovited 35w HID kit (6000k) and Katana H7 LEDs (12000 LM adjustable beam w/mini wire version). It’s good to know (a) that the lights will fit, and (b) that if I do get any errors that you all have plenty of experience working through them! That said, since I have to bring my truck into the body shop anyway for other damage, my plan is to have them professionally installed.

My truck already has an aftermarket bumper with 4 LED pods as fog lights and a 22in light bar, so when this is done I’m gonna have a lot of light! I’ll be sure to post pics :)

If you have time install the hid's and led's yourself. That way you know that they are in correctly. Another member had to redo his after a shop incorrectly installed his hid's. Most shops are a little clueless when it comes to installing hid's.
