I have a 2015 ram 1500 4 x 4 crew cab with a hemi and the last time I went to fill it, the pump would run for a little bit and then shut off now and repeat the cycle. Call the dealer parts guy and he said it’s usually the evap canister and the valve due to driving a lot on country gravel roads.

It’s always been a little bit touchy at the gas pump.

is he pulling my leg or is he giving me the straight skinny

thanks

Mike

Not sure. I know my 18 is picky on which pumps it likes. Place closest to me shuts off CONSTANTLY. Others have no issues...

The pumps with the vapor recovery "bellows" are the worst especially in Califukia

observations I would add,

Seat the nozzle all the way, mine likes it deep as possible

Don't try to open the nozzle wide open, I choose the middle notch

When the pump shuts off, stop don't top off,

Last but not least, patience

It's not the fuel filler tube or the evap canister ... they have to actually replace the damn fuel tank to fix this .... I have already had the new filler tube replace the old one and it made things worse ... and there is no recall either ...

The dealers around here won't book me in so they can look at it .... I honestly don't know what to do anymore about this .... takes me 20 minutes to fill up each time ..

18 with 16000 miles on it. Always been touchy filling up. Last 6 months each fill up gets worse, pump would shutoff constantly. Now it wont go 5 seconds even on lowest setting. Also, the worst part now is when i try to restart the pump it pukes out down the side of the truck like its full. Tried 5 different gas stations, every depth or angle possible.
Messaged Cheech, as he stated no luck with a new filler neck. Cant stand spending 20-30 minutes at the pump

It's really ridiculous dude ... there was that class action lawsuit against them for this last year and nothing got updated on it .... I am really tempted on opening up another myself ...

Usually have the dealer do the inspection each year, mainly cause i needed recall work anyway, keep it on there records incasebi have warranty issues down the road. Truck is due in February so I'll request they look into then. If it goes nowhere, id be interested to jump on that too. Love this truck, but at 16000 miles, my 5.7 sounds like ****. Longest any oil has been in is 4200 miles, now i change at 3k. Kind of wondering how long ill keep it at this point. Im Usually a 10yr owner. Got an 8yr 75k warranty. This truck torments me

What sounds like **** though ? .. Try Redline oil and a Royal Purple oil filter and do the oil changes yourself .....

Only solution honestly is to have the whole fuel tank replaced but that is exactly why the damn dealers wont set up a service call so they can take a look at it .... the time and labor to do this by them is probably not in their agendas lol ... they probably want to drag it out so that customers get fed up and they have to pay out of pocket to get a new fuel tank ... complete bs if you ask me ....going to wait for the new year to come and then hit them up again ...
