So, I got both heads on, lifters, pushrods, heatshields, and everything torqued to spec.

Does the dipstick mount to the front top heatshield/exh manifold stud? It looked right so i did it lol, just wanna make sure. FYI more of these questions are sure to come. I am using my dads assembled 2015 truck to locate all the harness mounting locations this weekend but was just wondering about this one.

Really excited to be in the home stretch on the cam swap. I also installed all the plugs after I verified all my pushrods were seated correctly.

Also, really important question...as we were mounting the drivers side heatshield, my dad dropped the stud nut INTO THE EXH DOWNPIPE...should I fish this out or just leave it?

I honestly can’t remember on factory manifolds, but on my headers I fished the dipstick through them and bent it a little to mount to the front bolt like you are saying.

As for the harness it is good to have a reference truck, but you really can’t mess anything up. Every wire should be working a few inches of where in plugs in at and no 2 plugs are the same (excluding injectors and coil pack, although it’s impossible to mix them up).

The dropped nut went down into the exhaust? If so, just unbolt the Y pipe and get it out. That thing rattling will drive you insane.

wiring harness's taken loose and pulled back out of the way for a job can and normally do look like OMG how am I ever going to get that back it will take me forever to get all them found where they go and plugged back up. Trust me though its not hard once you lay harness back over into place the connectors fall right back in place to where they plug up. I have as a auto tech have done around 50 engine swaps in the last 4 years and they all come together pretty much the same way ever once in a while they will be one or two you cant figure out normally its because that part has not been reinstalled yet so your not seeing where it goes because part not there yet so keep that in mind when and if that comes up just think what is in that area not here yet they always come together do not worry

Fished the bolt out with a magnet, got valve covers, coil packs, and intake manifold installed. Started to put the timing cover on and can not find the freaking oil pan-to-timing cover bolts...looked for 45mins. Gonna have to get new ones...any ideas on the specs of these? Can I get an equivalent at a hardware store?

they are metric bolts may have to pull another oil pan bolt out to go match them up I think they are like M6 or M8 but not sure and there are different pitch thread count to so best to match one up

I think i found them online, they have a special conical washer but i think any M6x1x20mm with a washer will work. I didnt know the rest of the bolts on the oil pan were the same so I will take your advice and pull one and check some hardware stores while in Dothan tomorrow. Should have it ready to crank tomorrow night, God willing!

Are dealership parts departments usually open on Saturdays?

me I would go to a hardware store like ACE they have great metric and standard bolt section I would not be surprised if a dealer ask 5 bucks a piece for them things
