Tailgate bumper step

my tailgate bumper step is always stuck. I need to use a pry bar and some lubricant to make it functional. Is there any way to losen it up ?

Is this one of those spring loaded, fold up steps mounted order the left corner of the bumper? That spring is really strong but probably a shot of good penetrating oil on the hinge points like Tri-Flow should loosen it up.

I tried using Film Fluid . It works for a little while, then it gets stuck again. Maybe I just don’t use it enough.

It probably does get a lot of road spray off the tire and even splash guards might not cut that down much since it’s inboard of them. Frequent lubricant sprays with something is a good idea.

I’ve had two truck with them. No issues with either. I do extend it and wash it every time I wash the truck, which is frequently.
