14 express premium cluster upgrade

Hello,
I just picked up a 7" EVIC cluster for a good price but it has less mileage than my current one. I plan to have the correct mileage programmed into the new cluster but I want to wait for a couple of months until a time when I will be away on vacation and don't need the vehicle. My question is; If I swap out the gauge cluster and drive it for a while is there a way to pull the true mileage from the vehicle and reprogram the new gauge cluster at a later date?

Just right down the exact mileage on your original cluster prior to installing the other , also record the exact milage on the new to U one ....drive all you want. , Then do the math upon removing the new to U cluster.

The short answer is No , my dealer can read the total miles on my truck via WiFi when I pull into their Maint Bay ...but to my knowledge there's no way other than recording mileage and doing the math for us to read it ....

Any Idea where that is read from? Are they just reading it wirelessly from the EVIC or is there another storage location?

I just got off the phone with the guy that'a going to program the cluster for me. He said that when they can't program an exact mileage into the cluster because the programmer does it in steps. He said it will be within about 50 miles. He will call me when he is going to program it so I can give him the exact miles, run and idle times. He will then program it about 50 miles or so over my current mileage and I will install the new gauges when I reach the newly programmed mileage on my truck.

I think it's the BCM where mileage is stored and is the authoritative mileage record.

I almost said the BCM..., but I think more so it's the TIPCM ??? Total Integrated Power Control Module ??? It may be the Body Control Module I'm just not sure ...and I guess it really doesn't matter LOL as we can't access it anyway [emoji16][emoji106][emoji106]

Got my cluster in today... I have to hook it up tomorrow to verify the mileage, but the place said they thought it had 19k on it. Anyone by chance have one with 10-12k on it that they want to trade? If not, I'll just send it off and have it updated.

Just went out and installed it, then uninstalled it. It plugged right in and worked perfect. It will take me 2-3 years to get to 19k miles though...

I either need to find someone to trade for one that has closer to this mileage or I will send it out next week to have it updated...

Anyone have one with closer to 12k miles on it that wants to do a straight trade?

From a legal and paperwork standpoint you'd be much better off having the new one adjusted to the proper millage.

Just got my premium cluster. I paid $175.00 shipped. It's going out tomorrow to be programmed. When the guy gets ready to program it he's going to call me to get my actual mileage, run and idle time and then add about 50 miles to it so I can drive my truck up to the programmed mileage and then swap it out. I can't wait to get it installed.

Wow! Surprised he'd accept your word on the mileage over the phone without some sort of backup. Such as a cell phone pic, actually driving the vehicle to him....

It's a common practice. The only folks who are legally required to document this are dealers and sellers if there is a deviation.

He requires a "mileage Affidavit" to be filled out with your name, address, mileage on current vehicle, requested mileage etc, etc. I need to drive my truck while the gauges are out being programmed. I can go a day or two without driving my truck so I asked him to call me so I can get it exact for when I do the swap.

I shipped mine out Monday morning. It's been programmed and is on it's way back now. The tracking number says I should have it on Saturday. Dominic is awesome, he's a real nice guy to boot too.
