when i did mine a piece of the stock gasket about a half an inch long tore and was hanging off so i just trimmed the torn piece off and went to autozone and got a standard gasket that goes between the engine and the bracket. i coated the gasket in blue rtv and used both. havent had a problem since i installed it!

Well 180 T-stat went in today, powerwire will be in tonight so we shall see if everything works out alright there, Tomorrow the cutout is being welded in.... My pile of parts is gettin smaller :D

Question though, what temps are you guys running with the 180* ? Mine (via the AI gauge) is saying its topping out (well after 20min of hard driving) @ 186-190*... It is always droppong back down to the mid 180's and the needle is a little over a 1/4 at all times as well so Im not to concerned.

Oh and it was a ***** to get the hose off!!! And thanks Ramunit for the tip about not taking the bottom bolt out all the way that thing would have been a PIA to get back in.

Mine runs 188-190 which is about 3 degrees higher than it did before the HD trans cooler was installed. My guess the cooler blocks a little air????

Well Im a believer on adding the T-Stat now. The truck is running so much better with it and best part is it completely got rid of the KR so its not cutting the power any due to pulling timing. So needless to say its running better than ever.

Scratch that, had no KR at all yesterday.... seeing 1-3* STKR today... :Grenade: I wish I knew what was the root cause of this.

My guess is your PCM has learned the new operating parameters and has adjusted for them.
