Well it seems to be a "Performance upgrade".
Meaning you computer will register your engine is running cool and will therefore dump more fuel in in an attempt to warm your engine up to full temp. Resulting in more fuel burned, more power gained.
At the expense of lower fuel mileage.
At the expense of a colder running engine and a heater that is 15 degrees cooler in the winter.
But, you gain a single horse power or two. Lol.

You won't gain any power and you might lose a mpg.

Do it. It's a must especially in hotter climates.

You wont lose any mpg. You wont see any benefits unless you have a custom tune.

So more fuel dumped in as the computer tries to warm up the now running colder engine will not affect fuel consumption? Amazing.

You will get the benefit of being cold in the winter. :roflsquared:

You can, that's the only downside to them. It's well known you might lose a mpg or so.

Wow, a lot of misinformation here about what a thermostat does.

First and foremost, a thermostat is going to be underutilized without a tune. The purpose of lowering your coolant temperature is to reduce your cylinder temperatures and reduce detonation caused by that. Basically lower coolant temps means you can run more timing safely, which means more power.

Installed a JET 180 Tstat 2 weeks ago. It's been cold here and I haven't noticed any loss in heat.
Gas mileage per tank is still about the same and I have been hard on it lately.
Truck feels stronger. My trinity shows the temps have dropped from 95*C to 85*C.

Very worth it!
Now to bolt on the E-Fan....

I didn't think it would spark such a debate lol

Posting something like this is borderline trolling as the technical cronies will come out and argue over stuff that makes no difference in the world..

I think I speak for 98% of the members here that it's incredibly annoying seeing such a repetitive topic brought to light 20 times a week. Had you been a "forum newbie" I would not be so harsh, but your a "Senior member" with over 100 posts, clearly you have been around enough to know the "trendy topics", and how to use features to search for what what is of interest before posting about them - or maybe not..
