Has anyone removed the oil pan with the engine in the truck?

Some say remove the engine mount nuts, place a jack with a 2x4 under the harmonic balancer and raise the engine 2-4 inches. Sounds good and looks like it may work, when replacing the engine mounts the engine did raise a good 4 inches.
The goal is to replace the oil pan gaskets and seals, most likely the oil pump too since cleaning the pickup screen is a must.

Any thoughts, recommendations and comments appreciated.

removed the oil pan without raising the engine, but the front counterweights on crankshaft may be in the wrong position
