20 inch rims on V6 pentastar 2018

Is it possible, without really hurting its “performance”? the stock 20” Ram rims is what I’m talking about. I loved the way that they look. If not, I might just get slightly bigger tires for my rims when I need to change them.

Rim size has nothing to do with engine size ... You can put 30’s on 20’s, or you can put 35’s on 20’s ... This is one time, that size don’t matter ... Lol

He’s saying it’s an overall circumference issue... as in how it changes the overall gearing of the truck basically. Worry about your tire size not your wheel size if you worry about performance. If you go up to 20’s run a lower profile tire if you don’t want to hurt performance. Assuming you are talking about acceleration when you say performance that is. Lower profile tires can actually help performance when it comes to cornering... then again they will also ride much rougher. Pros and cons like usual

Yea I’m talking about acceleration and ability to maintain the higher gears while cruising. I wasn’t sure if I’d be affected having the 3.21 gears and the fact that the truck did not come with bigger rims for that reason.

Tougher ride is something that I am concerned about as well, but may be willing to risk the trade off. I actually like the look of a little more meat and a little less rim too. And I’m guessing that option will be cheaper to upkeep long term. Haven't researched though. I just want to fill those wheel wheels a bit more!

If you go with a larger diameter tire, it will effect the acceleration and how the truck shifts. You could get a V6 truck with 20" rims and 3.21 gearing from the factory.
A 285/70/17 is close enough for conversation sakes to the factory 275/60/20 diameter. It's also the stock tire size of the Ram Rebel, so if you don't want to tackle changing the speedometer with AlfaOBD (dealers can only choose factory sizes).

Your also right on the money about going with a larger tire on a 17" rim is usually less expensive and a larger selection than tires for a 20" rim

If you do go with 285/70/17's upgrade to the Rebel wheels or another 8" wheel, the stock 7" wide 17" wheel and that size tire really hurt handling around bends - did for me at least.

I had 295/60R20’s on my factory chrome clad wheels without any problems. My truck came with the 20” chrome clads from the factory.
