Hi I purchased a rebuilt 5.2 magnum from a shop in Tampa a few years ago so I had a backup for my truck. When I needed it 2 years ago I pulled it out freshened it up installed new double roller timing kit changed over the intake and installed it into my truck. When I tested the compression I was only getting 45-60 psi per cylinder. I tried adding oil to the cylinders and trying again it did improve up to 90-150 psi. But I killed the battery while checking this when I charged the battery and rechecked and it was backdown to 45-60. I pulled the engine and purchased a used one to get me by, I put the engine back on my engine stand and put it back into my garage. Sorry this is long but fast forward 2 years I took the motor apart and had the heads tested at a machine shop they were indeed rebuilt heads new valves and pulled good vacuum to all ports. I checked the cylinder wall each has fresh cross pattern in each cylinder. I purchased a new Felpro gasket kit and put the engine back together. My concern while installing the head gaskets is the this particular set had two identical gaskets and they were both for the passenger side. This required to flip the drivers side over to install. I know this is typically not something I would do but after checking and double checking everything I seen state this is correct. I installed the motor into my truck and decided to check compression again on number 1 cylinder before I went any further. It only had 30 psi I have not checked any other cylinder but am I missing something????? Any Help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance

Adding oil to the cylinder will seal the rings, you probably have worn compression rings were all the rings replaced and the cylinders honed, I would perform a leak down test that will tell you where the problem is.
